Double rustproof PC strand comprising a core wire (8) and six surrounding wires (9) twisted around said core wire (8), the wires having the following diameters: (A) diameter of the core wire (8): 4.42 ± 0.05 mm, diameter of the surrounding wire (9): 4.25 ± 0.05 mm; or (B) diameter of the core wire(8): 5.22 ± 0.05 mm, diameter of the surrounding wire (9): 5.06 ± 0.05 mm; or (C) diameter of the core wire (8): 5.40 ± 0.05 mm, diameter of the surrounding wire (9): 5.25 ± 0.05 mm. The tensile strength of the strand is 1850 N/mm 2 or higher. All wires were subjected to a wire drawing treatment and each wire comprises a plated layer (2). Additionally each plated wire or the strand is coated with a synthetic resin coating on an outer peripheral surface thereof. The PC strand has a uniform twisting pitch, durability and semi-permanent rustproof performance.

In a method for forming a rustproof film on a PC strand, the thickness of the resin film (26) is set to 200 ± 80 µm, the pre-heating is performed within a temperature range from 60 to 150°C to prevent an occurrence of a cob-webbing phenomenon as a result of melting of the synthetic resin powder coating material and the post-heating is performed within a range from 150 to 250°C in order to uniformize the thickness of the coats adhered to the outer peripheral surfaces of the core wire and the surrounding wires, and the temperature of the pre-heating is set to be lower than the temperature of the post-heating, and the synthetic resin powder coating material including particles having diameters in a range from 0.1 to 250 µm is used, and the line speed in the series of steps is set to 5 to 10 m/min.

Steel cables are utilized for reinforcing a wide variety of rubber articles. For instance, pneumatic tires are normally reinforced with steel tire cords. It is important for such reinforcing cables to exhibit good fatigue and corrosion resistance. It has been unexpectedly found that the fatigue and corrosion resistance of such cables can be improved by incorporating syndiotactic-1,2-polybutadiene into the interstices (5) between the steel filaments (3,4) in such cables. This invention more specifically relates to a cable for reinforcing rubber articles having improved fatigue and corrosion resistance which is comprised of a plurality of steel filaments (3,4) and syndiotactic-1,2-polybutadiene, wherein the syndiotactic-1,2-polybutadiene is dispersed within interstices (5) between said steel filaments (3,4).

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a lengthy body comprising high performance polyethylene fibres and a polymeric resin comprising the steps of applying an aqueous suspension of a polymeric resin to HPPE fibres, assembling the HPPE fibres, partially drying the aqueous suspension, optionally applying a temperature, tension and/or a pressure treatment to the lengthy body wherein the polymeric resin is a homopolymer or copolymer of ethylene and/or propylene.
