Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a curtain wall panel installation system. The curtain wall panel installation system of the present disclosure includes a plurality of rails each forming an elongated panel bracket (20a, 20b) spanning an entire edge or substantially the entire edge of a concrete floor slab of a given floor of a building. Each elongated panel bracket is mountable to anchors (such as embedments) cast in the concrete floor slab of a given floor of the building at discrete positions along the concrete floor. The elongated panel brackets (20a, 20b) enable the curtain wall panels (30) to be laterally transported along the building facade to their respective installation positions, which enables workers to use a centralized crane (40) location to hoist the curtain wall panels (30) in preparation for installation.

A combination of a panel and a panel handling system for use in moving the panel around a site is provided. The panel comprises a preassembled wall panel having a base portion, opposing end portions and a top portion, the top portion including at least one further fixing part. The handling system comprises a first and second end plate, each of which includes at least one fixing part which co-operates with a respective first and second end portion of the wall panel to secure the end plates to the panel, and further includes first and second movers. Each mover comprises an end plate fixing part which includes means for fixing each mover to a respective one of the first and second end plates and a support part which supports the fixing part above the ground and is in turn supported above the ground by at least one ground engaging wheel or roller. The end plates and movers are so arranged that with the end plates fixed to the ends of the panels and the movers fixed to the end plates the system supports the panel wholly above the ground permitting it to be moved around a site in a direction parallel to the length of the panel. The end plates can be removed from the end plates so that the end plates support the panel clear of the ground.

The method comprises: a) mounting two vertical profiles (1a-b) of the first type at a second floor of the building so that the slots (4a-b) are facing each other, and above profiles (1 c-d) of the first and second type previously mounted on a first floor, and so that the longitudinal axes of the profiles are aligned, b) transporting a facade element (12) in a vertical direction guided by the grooves of the second type of profiles mounted on the first floor until it reaches the vertical profiles mounted on the second floor, c) entering the facade element into the slots (4a-b) of the first type of vertical profiles mounted on the second floor, d) continuing transporting the facade element in the vertical direction guided by the slots (4a-b) of the first type of vertical profiles mounted on the second floor until it reaches a mounting position, e) moving the facade element to an inner part (5) of the slots (4a-b).and f) attaching the facade element to the building.

The panel to be installed has each of its edge regions adjacent to the control cable provided with at least one guide lug (4), including a guide member (9) fitting around the control cable (5). The method comprises lifting a panel to a mounting location by means of a lifter (8) fastenable to the panel, under the guidance of the control cables (5) and the guide members (9).

Cable supported hook apparatus (10) provides a U-shaped upward facing opening (28) for transporting a truss (12). A cam (36) pivotably mounted opposite the opening has a serrated edge opposite a handle (19). A slot (34) in the opening permits a spring (63) to urge the cam from a released orientation to an engaged orientation with the serrated edge extending through the slot. In the released orientation, a knob retractable spring driven pin extension (45) can extend through a hole in the cam and secure it in place. In use, the handle is first used to rotate the cam to the released and secured orientation. After engagement with the truss, the extension is retracted by the knob which permits the cam to engage the truss. After transportation a release cable (20) rotates the cam to the released and secured orientation to free the truss.
