A method of forming a structural wall using lightweight or heavyweight block or brick. A removable lightweight wall panel is used as a guide for forming the wall. The method includes first installing the removable wall panel vertically next to a chalk line on the foundation. The chalk line is used to mark a horizontal line along one side of the wall to be constructed. The wall panel is plumbed vertically and leveled horizontally. The wall panel includes horizontal level lines 8 inches, 2 feet and 6 feet from a bottom of the wall panel. The level lines are used as a level guide to make sure each row or course of blocks are level as a block wall is built upwardly. A bonding agent is now placed on the bottom and on one end of a plurality of concrete blocks for forming a first course of blocks. The blocks are then laid end to end next to each other and next to one side of the wall panel for forming a first row of blocks. The bonding agent is then applied to the top of the first course of blocks. The bonding agent is now applied to the ends of a plurality of concrete blocks for forming a second course of blocks. The blocks are then laid end to end next to each other on top of the first course of blocks for forming a second course of blocks. The applying of the bonding agent to the blocks and laying courses of blocks one on top of each other is continued upwardly until the top of the last course of blocks coincides with the top of the wall panel.

In order to simplify and rationalise the application process and prevent the defects caused by the jet delivery, the application device is designed in such a way that the nozzle arrangement consists of a flat nozzle (2, 7) whose outlet aperture (20) is open towards the building surface (1) and counter to the direction of application (A) in the plane of the applied layer (61, 62, 63, 64), and the smoothing limb (3) of the outlet aperture (20) is immediately adjacent to the flat nozzle (2), extends away from the direction of application (A) and lies tangentially to the applied layer (61, 62, 63, 64). A Mortar Delivery System is described. The Mortar Delivery System provides precise control of the delivery and application of mortar in addition to the mixing and tempering of mortar. Such control eliminates the use of a hand trowel in brick, block and stone laying applications. Sensing and control are integrated with the Mortar Delivery System to make it an important element of a robotic brick laying system. The Mortar Delivery System contains sensors to measure mortar viscosity and workability, mortar flow rate, and mortar nozzle pressure. The data from the Mortar Delivery System sensors can be used to change the rotational speed of the shear blades, change the amount of water being used for mixing or tempering, and change the delivery speed of the mortar. Such changes result in precise control of mortar that is in turn suitable for automated or semi-automated building processes.
