A method of completing a well involving remediating a condition of screen-out that has taken place along a zone of interest. The method includes forming a wellbore, and lining at least a lower portion of the wellbore with a string of production casing and placing a valve along the production casing, wherein the valve creates a removable barrier to fluid flow within the bore. The barrier is removed by moving the valve in the event of a screen-out. This overcomes the barrier to fluid flow, thereby exposing ports along the production casing to the subsurface formation at or below the valve. Additional pumping takes place to pump the slurry through the exposed ports, thereby remediating the condition of screen-out.

A sintered rod-shaped proppant and anti-flowback agent possesses high strength and high conductivity. The sintered rods comprise between about 0.2% by weight and about 4% by weight aluminum titanate. In some embodiments, the sintered rods are made by mixing bauxitic and non-bauxitic sources of alumina that may also contain several so-called impurities (such as TiO 2 ), extruding the mixture, and sintering it. The starting material may optionally be milled to achieve better compacity and crush resistance in the final sintered rod. A fracturing fluid may comprise the sintered rods alone or in combination with a proppant, preferably a proppant of a different shape.

The sensors may be connected to the downhole tool, may be positioned within the wellbore, and/or may be positioned at the surface. The magnitude and/or frequency of the periodic energy pulses may be varied to change the stimulation and/or interrogation of the wellbore.

The method comprises: determining certain reservoir conditions of the reservoir comprising the formation; selecting at least one desired behavior of the fracturing fluid mixture during a fracturing operation in the formation under the determined reservoir conditions; determining properties of the fracturing fluid mixture required to achieve the selected at least one behavior, preparing the fracturing fluid mixture having the determined properties; and injecting the fracturing fluid mixture into the reservoir under the determined reservoir conditions, such that the mixture exhibits the desired behavior during the fracturing operation. The determined properties include a mole fraction of natural gas in the mixture.
