The present invention relates to a controller and a control method for an actuator that is driven by a brushless motor. The present invention is to provide the actuator controller for appropriately driving the brushless motor without providing a temperature sensor thereto. The controller for an actuator that is driven by a brushless motor estimates the temperature of the magnet in the brushless motor on the basis of an electric current value and a rotation speed thereof which are obtained by supplying power to rotate the brushless motor in a reverse direction, and limits current flowing through the brushless motor during forward rotation so as to prevent the magnet temperature from rising beyond an allowable maximum temperature. Limiting the current flowing through the brushless motor on the basis of the estimated magnet temperature makes it possible to drive the brushless motor while preventing the magnet temperature from rising beyond the allowable maximum temperature without providing the brushless motor with any temperature sensor for detecting the magnet temperature therein.

The problem arises of how to control a plurality of hydraulic pumps to achieve desired performance criteria, such as reduced wear and/or power consumption. The hydraulic pumps are operated in a hydraulic system for delivering hydraulic fluid to a hydraulic motor in a cryogenic pumping apparatus in an engine system fuelled with a gaseous fuel. A controller is operatively connected with the plurality of hydraulic pumps and is programmed to periodically determine a priority for each hydraulic pump as a function of predetermined criteria such as respective cumulative pumping cycles. Higher priority hydraulic pumps are operated before lower priority hydraulic pumps, that is in descending order of priority, to supply hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic motor. Hydraulic pumps are selected to operate according to the desired performance criteria.

The present invention has an object to provide a control device for an electric compressor and a start control method of an electric compressor that can smoothly and reliably start the electric compressor even at high temperature. Even in a high temperature state of a power transistor, a rotational speed or an acceleration rate of a motor according to the temperature is set to gradually start the electric compressor. After the commencement of the start, the temperature of the power transistor is repeatedly checked for every predetermined time to update the rotational speed or the acceleration rate of the motor, and the rotational speed or the acceleration rate of the motor is increased according to the temperature of the power transistor, thereby allowing quick start. When a refrigerant starts to flow in a housing of the electric compressor with the start, a control board is cooled and the temperature of the power transistor decreases, and thus a synergistic effect can be obtained.

The capacity states alternates periodically between states in such a way that a substantially continuous range of effective capacities can be obtained while the individual cylinders are evenly loaded.
