Abstract:
Particles of interest, such as DNA molecules, are injected into a medium by applying a first field. Once in the medium the particles are concentrated by applying one or more fields that cause mobilities of the particles in the medium to vary in a manner that is correlated with motions of the particles. Particle injection and particle concentration may be performed concurrently or in alternation.
Abstract:
Horizontal gel electrophoresis devices and methods of extracting a gel from a gel housing are provided. The devices allow for extraction of gels without having to open the housing comprising the gel. The devices include gel cassettes that simplify the automation of gel electrophoresis and electroblotting of proteins. Also provided are devices that allow for horizontal gel electrophoresis without the need to from a liquid seal between the buffer reservoir and the gel housing. Also described are methods for extracting a gel from a housing without opening the housing.
Abstract:
Electrophoretic separation methods and systems for performing the same are provided. The methods and systems find use in a variety of different electrophoretic separation applications, such as sub-cellular Western blotting of single cells.
Abstract:
An analysis chip capable of introducing a sample into a capillary without failure and an analysis device using the analysis chip are provided. An analysis chip (10) according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a first channel (64) through which a liquid sample flows together with gas; a second channel into which the sample from the first channel (64) is introduced; and a phoresis tank (69) that stores the sample between the first channel (64) and the second channel, at least a bottom surface of the phoresis tank (69) on a side of the second channel being subjected to a treatment to increase a wettability with respect to the liquid.
Abstract:
Electrophoresis gel cassette comprising a first and a second face wall member and one or more side wall members, defining a gel compartment for a gel member with a first and second face, wherein the first face wall member has high gel adhesion compared to the second face wall member, whereby a gel member molded in the cassette will stay attached to the high gel adhesion face wall member when the cassette is opened, and wherein the first face wall member is provided with at least one removable section to expose a section of the first face of the gel member, the removable section of the first face wall member having lower gel adhesion compared to the non-removable part of the first face wall member.
Abstract:
Slab gel cassettes for use in electrophoretic analyzes of biologically-derived mixtures are equipped with features that prevent the plastic walls of the cassettes from bowing outward when gels retained within the cassettes swell, as gels typically do during casting, storage, or both. In certain embodiments, these features are incorporated into, or mate with, the comb-shaped inserts that form the sample wells as the gels are being cast. In other embodiments, these features are complementary features incorporated into both the comb and the cassette.
