    摘要: Applicants have determined that the temperature sensitivity of long-period grating devices is due to differential variation with temperature of the refractive indices of the core and cladding. They have further determined that the cladding profile and fiber composition can be redesigned to substantially reduce this differential variation, thereby reducing the temperature sensitivity of long-period gratings of less than 4 nm per 100°C and preferably less than 2 nm per 100°C. This design permits the use of long-period grating devices without temperature control or compensation.

    摘要: An optical waveguide grating with radiative mode-coupling properties, with exceptional stability and reliability as an optical component, wherein the central wavelength of the rejection band has a low temperature dependence, due to the use of silica glass doped with germanium and boron for the core.
    The rejection bandwidth can be narrowed without increasing the grating length by forming the radiative mode-coupled optical waveguide grating in an optical waveguide wherein the mean relative refractive index difference of the core is greater than that of optical communication waveguides. The rejection can be increased by reducing the occurrence of cases wherein propagation modes of the core coupled to cladding modes once again couple to the core in palnar optical waveguide gratings formed by making periodic changes in the waveguide structure along the direction of propagation of light in an optical waveguide having a cladding with a lower refractive index than the core surrounding the core, by making the thickness of the cladding at least thirteen times the thickness of the core.

    摘要: There is provided a temperature-compensated long period optical fiber grating filter using a multi-cladding structure. In an optical fiber used for the temperature-compensated long period optical fiber grating filter, a plurality of long period fiber gratings are formed periodically in a core and the core is doped with a first dopant to show a positive coupling wavelength shift as temperature increases. An inner cladding is formed around the core and has a refractive index lower than that of the core. An outer cladding is formed around the inner cladding and has a lower refractive index than that of the inner cladding, and is doped with a second dopant to show a negative coupling wavelength shift as the refractive index of the outer cladding is increased with temperature. The positive wavelength shift and the negative wavelength shift are canceled out, thereby compensating temperature.
