摘要： The present invention concerns a method for authentication of physical objects, by sampling and verifying of a probe image of a copy detection pattern (CDP) representing an object to be authenticated. The method comprises, at a training stage, the steps of
acquiring a set of reference templates tnn=1N,
acquiring a set of training images xnn=1N,
pre-processing of the training images, and, at an authentication stage,
acquiring a probe image y (70) of a copy detection pattern (CDP) representing an object to be authenticated,
performing pre-processing of the probe image, and
producing a decision about authenticity of the physical object.
The method further comprises, at said training stage, the steps of producing a set of estimates of reference templates,
determining a pattern reliability (60), and, at said authentication stage,
producing an estimate of probe reference template t̃ (80),
applying the determined pattern reliability (60), by use of a mask m reflecting said pattern reliability (60), for a weighted score computation (120, 121, 122),
the step of producing a decision about authenticity being based on at least a score s (125) produced by said weighted score computation (120, 121, 122).

摘要： An apparatus may be provided for determining a signature from an article in a reading volume of the apparatus. The apparatus can comprise a source operable to generate a coherent beam and a beam directing member operable to direct the coherent beam into the reading volume. The apparatus may also comprise a detector arrangement for collecting signals created by scatter of the coherent beam within the reading volume, wherein different ones of the signals relate to scatter from different parts of the reading volume and a processor operable to determine a signature for an article in the reading volume from the collected signals. Use of such apparatus can be repeated whenever required to test authenticity of the article. The apparatus can utilise a camera to ensure that article alignment within the reading volume is such as to provide for reliable signature generation for comparison purposes.

摘要： An image reading apparatus includes a first reading element for receiving visible light in reflected light from a color document and reading image data corresponding to the visible light as electric signals, and a second reading element for receiving infrared light in reflected light from the color document and reading image data corresponding to the infrared light as electric signals. The image reading apparatus thus reads the image data not only from the visible light but also from the infrared light. Consequently, the image reading apparatus is capable of reading a special distinguishing pattern of copy-prohibited printed matter printed with special ink, such as infrared absorbing ink, as well as ordinary image data, and thereby preventing counterfeiting of copy-prohibited printed matter.
