There is described a method for controlled production of security documents, especially banknotes, wherein said security documents are subjected to a plurality of successive printing and processing operations (20.1, 20.2, ...) on a plurality of processing stations. The method comprises the steps of : (i) providing a computer network comprising a central server station (10) coupled via a data network (15) to a plurality of local computer stations (25.1, 25.2, ..., 26.1, 26.2,...), one local computer station (25.1, 25.2, ...) being operatively coupled to each processing station (20.1, 20.2, ...) ; (ii) defining at least one production order, which production order involves the production of a desired volume of security documents according to a defined production workflow, this production order being subdivided into a plurality of production loads (30, 30*, 30**, ...) each being assigned a machine-readable load identifier (35) ; (iii) assigning selected processing stations among available processing stations (20.1, 20.2, ...) to carry out processing of the production order according to the production workflow ; and (iv) selectively processing each production load (30, 30*, 30**, ...) through the processing stations (20.1, 20.2, ...) depending on the determined production workflow of the corresponding production order defined for each production load, whereby each production load (30, 30*, 30**, ...) is first subjected to a load acceptance procedure based on its machine-readable load identifier (35) before being authorized to be processed on a selected processing station among said available processing stations (20.1, 20.2, ...). Bei einem Verfahren zur Ermittlung eines fehlerhaften Werkzeuges in einer Produktionsstraße (1) mit wenigstens zwei Stationen (3,4) wird so vorgegangen, daß die Stationen jeweils eine voneinander verschiedene Anzahl von jeweils gleichen Werkzeugen (5,6,7,10,11) aufweisen, daß mittels wenigstens einer Prüfeinrichtung (12) eine Qualitäts- bzw. Funktionskontrolle vorgenommen wird, daß bei Auftreten von fehlerhaften Werkstücken die an der Produktion dieser Werkstücke beteiligten Werkzeuge sowie deren Häufigkeiten ermittelt werden und daß durch Vergleich der ermittelten Verteilung der Häufigkeiten mit gespeicherten Häufigkeitsverteilungen auf das fehlerhafte Werkzeug geschlossen wird. Die Produktionsstraße weist wenigstens zwei Stationen mit Werkzeugen für die Produktion eines Werkstückes und wenigstens einer Prüfeinrichtung für fehlerhafte Werkstücke auf, wobei die einer Prüfeinrichtung vorangehenden Stationen jeweils eine voneinander verschiedene Anzahl von jeweils gleichen Werkzeugen aufweisen und die Prüfeinrichtung mit einer Auswerteschaltung verbunden ist, welche jedem Werkstück die an seiner Produktion beteiligten Werkzeuge zuordnet.

An automated system (25) for managing product quality in container processing plants (1) having a number of processing machines (2) cooperating in the processing of containers, the automated system (25) having a number of machine control units (22), each operatively coupled to a respective processing machine (2) to control operations thereof, each machine control unit (22) acquiring operating data from monitoring sensors (35) coupled to the processing machine (2), performing a pre-analysis of the acquired operating data, to determine performance parameter measurements indicative of a performance of operations executed in the processing machine (2), monitoring the performance parameter measurements, to determine an anomalous event in which these measurements drift outside a predetermined range indicative of a desired normal operating condition. The automated system (25) also has a central managing unit (32), acquiring from the machine control units (22) a subset of the respective performance parameter measurements, upon determination, by the machine control units (22) of the anomalous events; and processing the acquired performance parameter measurements in order to determine corrective actions to be performed in the processing machines (2) to maintain a desired product quality.
