In the present legacy electrical power generation and distribution system, the power quality delivered to end consumers is being degraded by a number of disruptive technologies and legislative impacts; especially with the rapidly increasing myriad of privately owned and operated domestic and commercial distributed energy generation (DEG) devices connected at any point across a low voltage (LV) distribution network. The present invention bypasses this increasing critical DEG problem by offering a solution comprising an energy processing unit (EPU) that is installed at the electrical power point of use (POU).

In an exemplary embodiment, an apparatus includes a current to voltage (I-V) filter configured to receive an input current signal at an input port and generate a filtered output voltage signal at an output port based on a feedback transconductance. The input current signal comprises an input DC current in addition to a signal current. The apparatus also includes a feedback circuit connected between the output port and the input port, the feedback circuit having at least one transistor configured to couple the input DC current to a signal ground and to provide the feedback transconductance for the I-V filter.

2.1 Zur Steuerung eines einer Last zuzuführenden Wechselstromes verwendet man steuerbare Halbleiter, die in der Regel am Gleichspannungsausgang einer Gleichrichterbrücke liegen, so daß der Laststrom jeweils zwei Gleichrichterdioden und den steuerbaren Halbleiter durchfließen muß, bevor er die Last erreicht. Es soll eine Schaltung geschaffen werden, die mit geringerer Verlustleistung auskommt. 2.2 Als steuerbare Halbleiter dienen zwei mit ihren Schaltstrecken (TS1,TS2) in Reihe liegende Transistoren (T1,T2), wobei jeder Schaltstrecke (TS1,TS2) eine Inversdiode (D1,D2) parallel geschaltet ist. Die beiden Transistoren (T1,T2) sind so gepolt und gesteuert, daß jede der beiden Halbwellen des Wechselstroms (I) nur eine Inversdiode (D1,D2) und eine Schaltstrecke (TS1,TS2) auf dem Weg zur Last LA durchfließen muß. 2.3 Die Schaltung soll bevorzugt bei Dimmern zur Anwendung kommen.

The present invention provides an alternating current regulating means including a positive half-cycle current-limiting circuit and a negative half-cycle current-limiting circuit. The positive half-cycle current-limiting circuit includes a first diode and a first current-limiting circuit. The negative half-cycle current-limiting circuit includes a second diode and a second current-limiting circuit. The first diode allows the positive half-cycle current of the alternating current to pass through, and the second diode allows the negative half-cycle current of the alternating current to pass through. Thus, when the input power supply generates an alternating current, the first diode and the second diode respectively allow the positive half-cycle current and the negative half-cycle current of the alternating current to pass through. Then, the first current-limiting circuit and the second current-limiting current respectively process the positive half-cycle current and the negative half-cycle current, so that the average current value of the outputted alternating current can be restricted to a stable value for a load.

A method is disclosed for controlling the power being supplied to a load (L,L') from an AC voltage source (V,V') by means of a static switch (I,I') comprising at least one controllable one-way switching element (T,T1,T2) and a rectifier (P,D1,D2) connected to said switching element and the source in series with the load. This method provides for the static switch (I,I') to make and break during each half-wave of the voltage supply (V,V') at first and second preset times, respectively. The first or make preset time is selected to have, at the first half-wave of the voltage supply that appears on the static switch upon activation thereof, a first predetermined lag (t0) from the moment the voltage across the static switch (I,I') is zero, and thereafter with the static switch connected to the source, a second predetermined lag (t2) from the moment the current (IT) flowing through the static switch is zero. The second or break preset time is selected to be coincident with the time when the current (IT) flowing through the static switch is zero. A device operating on the above-outlined method can be used without problems at full power, and is reliable and compact.
