    摘要: A system and method for creating and transferring media files is provided. The system and method allow for the transfer of files to a specific location on remote storage without having to first create the specific location on the remote storage system. The method comprises the steps of: receiving an input corresponding to a selected working directory; capturing at least one media file with a processor-based device; automatically renaming the media file to include an indicia corresponding to the selected working directory; receiving a transfer command; transferring the media file to remote storage, and instructing the remote storage to create a storage folder based on the indicia, and to store the media file in the storage folder. The system comprises at least one processor-based device comprising memory, a processor, input means, capturing means, a renaming module, a communications unit and a file transfer module.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for enabling users of network which have computers (100, 420, 430, 440, 450) running several different operating systems to access each others files easily. An algorithm is used to create legitimate, meaningful filenames by combining both a filename from a host (100) computer's "native" name space and a unique "inode" number from the host computer's file system (223) assigned for this file. The preliminary information necessary to apply the algorithm can be obtained rather easily, since the host computer's filename and inode number are returned by a well-known UNIX operating system call "getdents(2)". Client computers whose operating systems do not support a particular filename can both see and access a particular file via a special filename that is computed-on-the-fly; this name is not actually stored on the host computer (100) in either the file system or in a file, thereby eliminating a need for storing any additional information in the system. Using an inode number for computing the mapping of a long filename improves the uniqueness of resulting filenames, which is crucial if a client is dealing with large directories of files with similar names.

    摘要: Techniques for providing replicated files in a distributed system. A replicated file has a set of copies in components of the distributed system. Operations on the copies have the same semantics for the application processes accessing them as operations on a single copy of a file in a system where all processes execute on the same host. These semantics are achieved by means of a distributed synchronization system. Each replicated file has a read token and a write token. In order for an application process to perform an operation on a replicated file, the token required for the operation must be in the process's host and the process must have access to the token. Tokens are passed between hosts by token servers which respond to requests for tokens from application processes and from other token servers. The techniques are implemented using a library which replaces a standard I/O library, and may thus be employed without modification to hardware or the operating system.

    摘要: A technique is described for maintaining consistent filename conventions between multiple hosts and worksta­tions by providing a table of default parameters for various hosts and workstations and the corresponding filetypes that are accessed to determine the default parameters and filetypes for a given file. The programs which produce these screens also obtain and display default information concerning the files, such as, the file names and the data structures for the files on the destination host computer or workstation.     摘要: A file access method and apparatus, and a storage system are provided. The method includes: receiving a file access request from a process, where the file access request includes a file identifier; accessing a first physical address space according to a preset first virtual address space and a preset first mapping relationship between the first virtual address space and the first physical address space, where the first physical address space stores a file system; obtaining an index node of a target file from the first physical address space according to the file identifier of the target file; obtaining a file page table of the target file according to file page table information, included in the index node, of the target file, where the file page table records a second physical address space in the first physical address space, a data page of the target file is stored in the second physical address space; and accessing the target file according to the second physical address space. Therefore, software running overheads can be reduced effectively during file access, and a file access speed can be increased.
