Abstract:
A processing scheme for digital storage media using multi-user detection to separate tracks of data or remove interference from neighboring tracks. In one embodiment, data is written on a plurality of tracks positioned sufficiently close together so that multiple tracks are detected simultaneously by the read access sensor. Upon scanning the surface for data, the read element simultaneously receives the data signals from a plurality of tracks. Joint detection signal processing resolves the interference and data bits from the multiple sensed tracks, enabling closer packing of data with minimal guard space.
Abstract:
The present invention has an objective of providing an optical disk having a high resolution picture and a system for reproducing data on the optical disk, which are compatible with a conventional system for reproducing an ordinary resolution picture. A high resolution signal is divided into a main signal and a sub signal by picture division means and MPEG-encoded. The main signal and the sub signal are divided into frames each having 1 GOP or more. The resultant first interleave block 54 and second interleave block 55 are recorded alternately on an optical disk. A high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduced both the first and second interleave blocks, so that a high resolution picture is obtained. A non-high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduces only the first or second interleave block, so that an ordinary resolution picture.
Abstract:
An apparatus for reproducing data from a recording medium, is disclosed, wherein the recording medium includes an information area including a lead-in area, a data area and a lead-out area. The apparatus comprises a pickup configured to read disc identification information identifying a type of the recording medium recorded in an area preceding the lead-in area and a controller configured to control the pickup to read disc control information data used to control data recording or reproduction to or from the data area. Data is recorded in the data area in a format unique to the type of the computer readable medium, and the type of recording medium is one of Read-Only, Recordable, and Rewritable types. Furthermore, a method of reproducing data from a recording medium and a recording medium are disclosed.
Abstract:
A recording medium has recorded thereon a video stream and a graphics stream, wherein the video stream constitutes a moving picture, and the graphics stream constitutes a plurality of menu presentations to be composited with the moving picture, and includes a plurality of Display Sets that constitute respective menu presentations, each menu presentation being composed of one or more pages, and each Display Set including version information that shows whether or not content of each of the pages in the Display Set has changed with respect to a previous Display Set.
