    摘要: Apparatus for writing and/or reading information on a recording element comprises an integrated optical write/read head (10) of the type comprising a planar optical waveguide (12) and means for deflecting a guided beam of radiation out of the waveguide at an egress zone and for bringing such beam to a focused spot on a desired data track on the recording element. Means, responsive to any displacement of such focused spot from a desired data track, is provided for selectively varying the effective refractive index of the waveguide in the vicinity of the egress zone in order to vary the tracking position of the spot. Such means comprises a pair of spaced parallel electrodes (22, 24) in close proximity to the egress zone, and means (20) for producing an electric field between such electrodes, such field varying with the tracking error.

    摘要: An optical head is disclosed, in which a plate-shaped optical wave guide (12) comprises an optical system including a collimator lens (14), a beam splitter (3) and an objective lens (15); a laser light source (13) for emitted a laser light in the form of a light beam which is to be impinged on an optical recording medium (6); and electro-acoustic transducers (18a, 18b, 18c, 18d, 18e, 18f) are disposed between the beam splitter (3) and the objective lens (15), the transducers being adapted to be driven by the outer electrical signal for producing surface acoustic waves in the optical wave guide (12), thereby establishing a condensation and rarefaction distribution in refractive index in the optical wave guide (12) which distribution influences the direction of transmission and the degree of focusing on the light beam passing therethrough so that regulation of the tracking and the focal length can be effected without any mechanical movements.

    摘要: A light beam scanning read-out apparatus and a light beam scanning recording apparatus comprise an optical system for converting light guided inside of an optical waveguide into collimated optical wave, a device for generating surface acoustic waves which deflect the guided optical wave, a drive circuit for operating the surface acoustic wave generating device so that the frequency of the surface acoustic waves changes continuously, and a focusing grating couplerforcon- verging the guided and deflected optical wave at a space outside of the optical waveguide. The read-out apparatus further comprises a sub-scanning device for moving a read-out original exposed to the converged light with respect to the optical waveguide, and a photodector for detecting light obtained from the read-out original. The recording apparatus further comprises a sub-scanning device for moving a light-sensitive material exposed to the converged light with respect to the optical waveguide, and a modulator for modulating the guided optical wave with an image signal.

Alternatively, the optical information detection device includes a second member (50) for selectively removing light propagating near the center of the double-moded channel waveguide in place of the first member.
