A method and armoured cable for transporting an alternate current at a maximum allowable working conductor temperature, as determined by the overall cable losses, the overall cable losses including conductor losses and armour losses. The cable includes at least one core, including an electric conductor having a cross section area, and an armour surrounding the core along a circumference. The method includes: causing the armour losses not higher than 40% of the overall cable losses by having the armour made with a layer of a plurality of metal wires having an elongated cross section with a major axis, the major axis being oriented tangentially with respect to the circumference; and transporting the alternate current at the maximum allowable working conductor temperature, in the electric conductor having cross section area sized on the overall cable losses including the armour losses not higher than 40% of the overall cable losses.

The present invention provides a stranded electrical insulated wire conductor which includes a center element wire, an inner layer having a plurality of element wires arranged around the center element wire, and an outer layer having a plurality of element wires arranged around the inner layer. The inner layer has at least seven second element wires which have the same diameter as that of the center element wire or are smaller than the diameter thereof. The second element wires of the inner layer are respectively contacted with the center element wire, and the adjacent second element wires of the inner layer are contacted to each other. The cross-section of the stranded electrical insulated wire conductor is formed in a circle without worsening flexing characteristics.

A method of manufacturing a cable is provided. The method comprises placing a first metal tube, and a second metal tube parallel to the first metal tube such that a first circumferential surface of the first metal tube is in contact with a second circumferential area of the second metal tube, in a stranding machine. A first copper element and a second copper element is positioned in interstitial areas of the first metal tube and the second metal tube, in the stranding machine. The first metal tube, the second metal tube, the first copper element, and the second copper element are stranded together by activating the stranding machine.

To produce a large-current-adaptable common-mode coil simply and at low costs. When the drive pulley (76) of a motor (74) is rotated in an arrow B direction after the distance between pins (68, 68) is adjusted to a desired one, a rotary shaft (70) is rotated. This rotation allows a rod-like takeup bobbin (64) to take up a copper wire (60) such as UEW to produce an annular conductor (66) consisting of a specified number of wires. The conductor (66) is removed from the bobbin (64), and one end is rotated with the opposite ends kept pulled from each other to produce a strand. This strand is wound into a troidal coil or the like to produce a large-current-adaptable common-mode coil.
