A samarium cobalt target magnet is coupled to the shaft, and the target magnet interacts with a samarium cobalt driver magnet within a proximity switch when the target magnet is rotated within a predetermined distance of a top portion of the proximity switch. The interaction causes a switch to move from a first state to a second state, or vice versa.

Each switch chamber module comprises a separate power switch associated with a circuit. An autonomous actuating housing accommodates an indexing mechanism for a switch shaft. The switch shaft is coupled via a gear drive to a cam slide. The cam slide is located between the block of switch chamber modules and the housing for the actuating mechanism. The housing for the actuating mechanism is configured for a standard design of the packet cam switch having three interconnected switch chamber modules. The electrical connections of the packet cam switch are located on the narrow sides of the individual switch chamber modules. For finished packet cam switches, there are connections on two sides, wherein the connections are at the same height on one side.

A first orientation provides a maintained actuation position relative to a neutral position. A second orientation provides a momentary actuation position relative to the neutral position.
