The present invention discloses an adjustable electromagnetic release. A magnetic yoke is fixed on a bracket. A conductor passes through the bracket and the magnetic yoke and is mounted on the bracket. A shaft is mounted on the top of the bracket and is above the conductor. A push rod is mounted on the shaft and rotates with the shaft about the bracket. An armature is fixed on the push rod, the armature and the magnetic yoke are spaced apart. Adjusting mechanisms are mounted on the shaft. The adjusting mechanisms are mounted between the push rod and the bracket and on both sides of the push rod. A torsion spring is surrounded on the shaft and is within the adjusting mechanism. The adjusting mechanism contacts with the push rod. An adjusting rod is provided with a plurality of adjusting surfaces which contact with the adjusting mechanism. The adjusting rod is able to move along the longitudinal direction. The spring force of the torsion spring enables the push rod rotates towards a direction which makes the armature and the magnetic yoke separate. When large current passes through the conductor, the armature and the magnetic yoke attract each other under the electromagnetic force. When the electromagnetic force is larger than the spring force, the push rod rotates towards a direction which makes the armature and the magnetic yoke close. The push rod strikes the release mechanism to release and cut off the circuit. The electromagnetic force disappears, the push rod resets under the spring force of the torsion spring.

A combined function actuator comprising a secondary actuator which is physically located entirely within the physical space of a circuit protection and control device primary short circuit solenoid actuator. The secondary actuator combined function housing is a plunger to the primary actuator and also a magnetic isolator having contained within it the means for independent actuation of a voltage independent or a voltage dependant circuit protection and control device. The combined primary and secondary actuator when engaged with a suitable mechanism can be utilised to open and close the main contacts of a circuit protection and control device. A significant amount of space within a circuit protection and control device is made available by each combined actuator thus enabling additional functionality to be added to a circuit protection and control device without increasing the overall dimensions of the device.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a circuit breaker excellent in safety by electrically insulating the trip unit from the main circuit, and capable of performing a proper wiping of the movable contact carrier, resulting in reduction of electrical resistance at the contacts. In the circuit breaker of the present invention, a housing means (22) contains a main circuit (100) including a power supply side stationary contact carrier (1) with a stationary contact (2), a movable contact carrier (4) with a power supply side movable contact (3) and a load side movable contact (5), and a load side stationary contact carrier (7) with a load side stationary contact (6). The housing means is made of insulating material and disposed in the casing (40) also made of insulating material. The circuit breaker includes a make-and-break mechanism (30), a tripping mechanism (50). The tripping mechanism (50) is unitedly connected to the load side stationary contact carrier (7) and to the load side terminal (7c) therebetween. The tripping means (50) includes a converting mechanism (51) for converting electromagnetic force to mechanical force for tripping, which is supported on the housing means (22) and is electrically insulated from the main circuit (100). The make-and-break mechanism (30) is mounted on the housing means (22) and is electrically insulated from the main circuit (100).
