The invention relates to an oscillator, characterised in comprising a monobloc dielectric resonator in the form of a straight cylindrical section, hollowed in the mid-section thereof along the chords of the straight section thereof, such as to leave a central core and two lateral faces. The hollows have a symmetry of order N with N = 4, at least the planar faces of the cylinder are covered with a superconducting material, the resonator being placed in a cryogenic bath and connected to an amplifier by optimum means. The resonator connection is made by means of magnetic field and phase loop.

A voltage controlled oscillator includes a resonant circuit (2) which is connected with an active circuit (1). In the resonant circuit (2), a variable capacitance diode (4) is connected with a resonator (3) via a transmission line (5), and a capacitive circuit (6) is connected in parallel with the variable capacitance diode (4). By setting the length of the transmission line (5) to an appropriate value ranging from, for example, about one quarter to about one half of the wavelength of the resonant frequency, the frequency change width can increase, while maintaining the frequency linearity because of connection of the capacitive circuit (6).

A microwave oscillator for inducing parallel feedback from collector to base and obtaining a stabilized oscillation output is realized by connecting MSL A with released end to a base terminal of a transistor, connecting MSL B to its collector terminal, and disposing a DR closely to the MSL A and B to couple them electromagnetically. The length between the released end and the position of MSL A which is closest to the center of DR is set to λg1/4 (λg1 is the guide wavelength in the MSL A), and HIL is merely connected to this position as a bias supply line to the base terminal. This structure does not require the choke circuits which occupied a relatively wide area on the conventional circuit board, and a small and stable microwave oscillator having excellent phase noise characteristics, and a low-noise converter for receiving satellite signal by using the same are realized.

The feedback circuit (14) includes a plurality of resonators (34) and a pair of switches (32,38). Each switch (32,38) includes a first port and multiple connectable ports, the multiple connectable ports of each switch (32,38) connected to a corresponding one of the plurality of resonators (34). The feedback circuit (14) further includes a voltage-controlled phase shifter (22) disposed in series with the switches (32,38). The oscillator (10) further includes a discriminator circuit (16), responsive to signals from the feedback circuit (14), for providing a control signal (52) to the voltage-controlled phase shifter (22) for degenerating low frequency noise within the oscillator (10). With such an arrangement, high Q low noise resonators can be switched in and out of the circuit thus providing improved phase noise performance at high power levels with the desirable frequency agility required for a microwave oscillator.

Reflektierte Hochfrequenzsignale werden von der Antenne (4) ebenfalls empfangen und über den einen Streifenleiter (6) der Empfangsdiode (7) zugeführt, wo die reflektierte Leistung mit der direkt vom Oszillator (3) eingespeisten leistung überlagert wird. Das so erhaltene Dopplersignal wird über ein Tiefpaßfilter oder eine Bandsperre (9) nach außen in einen verstärker geleitet. The oscillator includes an active device, a substrate, a microstrip line formed on the substrate, and a dielectric block. The resonator is made up with the microstrip line and the dielectric block that is disposed so as to couple with the microstrip line. The active device produces a negative resistance in a desired oscillation frequency band. The dielectric block is set such that a resonance frequency of the lowest order mode of the dielectric block is lower than a desired oscillation frequency, and the resonance frequency of one of the higher order modes coincides with the desired oscillation frequency. The oscillator is generated with the higher order mode of the resonator. Thus, the invention provides at a low cost a millimeter wave band oscillator of a low phase noise by using this oscillator, and a transmitter-receiver module and a radar system applying this oscillator to the local signal generator.

The invention relates to a dielectric resonator oscillator, comprising a dielectric resonator (4) which is contained in a resonant cavity (2) for generating a signal that oscillates at a predetermined central frequency. The dimensions of the resonator and the conditions at the boundaries of the cavity determine the resonance frequency of the resonator. The invention also comprises means (17, 18, 19) for modifying the distribution of the electromagnetic fields in the cavity according to acoustic pressure waves, said means being sensitive to said acoustic pressure waves. The invention also relates to a voice control device which is provided with an inventive oscillator. The invention is particularly suitable for remote voice control devices for controlling household equipment.
