Frequenzdetektor zur Trägerfrequenzsynchronisation in Empfängern für digitale Datenübertragung, wobei dem Frequenzdetektor In-Phase-Komponente und Quadratur-Komponente des demodulierten Empfangssignal eingegeben wird, in welchem die Signalterme der doppelten Frequenz unterdrückt sind und welche aus dem Produkt des Empfangssignals mit dem Signal des spannungsgesteuerten Oszillators (VCO) der Frequenzregelschaltung entstanden sind und wobei das Ausgangssignal des Frequenzdetektors als Steuersignal uf für den VCO verwendet wird, wobei Kaskaden von komplexen Bandpässen mit reellen oder komplexen Vorentzerrern (VE) vorgesehen sind, durch welche der Realteil x und der Imaginärteil y des demodulierten Eingangssignals jeweils vor der Bandpaßfilterung vorentzerrt werden, und wobei eine Verknüpfungsschaltung vorgesehen ist, mittels der die Ausgangssignale der Kaskaden zu dem Steuersignal uf verknüpft werden, in dem durch Quadrieren oder Multiplizieren der Ausgangssignale Maße für die Leistung ermittelt werden, die anschließend voneinander subtrahiert werden und so das Steuersignal uf ergeben, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß mindestens zwei Kaskaden aus je einem Vorverzerrer (VE) und einem Bandpaß vorgesehen sind, deren Mittenfrequenzen jeweils unterschiedliche Betragswerte aufweisen und im Frequenzbereich der einen Nyquistflanke des Leistungsdichtespektrums des demodulierten Empfangssignals liegen. During terrestrial television reception, in general a first conversion into a first intermediate frequency is followed by another conversion into a second intermediate frequency. During satellite television reception, a FM-PLL-demodulator extracts the baseband signal from the satellite signal converted into a first intermediate frequency. For that purpose, two separate tuners are generally used. The object of the invention is to create a common tuner both for terrestrial and satellite television reception with as little circuitry as possible. The second mixing stage (M2) is switched as a mixer for conversion into the second intermediate frequency during terrestrial television reception and is switched as a component of a FM-PLL-demodulator (30) during satellite television reception. The invention is particularly suitable for television receivers and videorecorders which selectively receive the signal of a terrestrial antenna and of a satellite antenna.

A non-coherent demodulator 1 multiplies a modulated intermediate frequency (IF) signal with a signal from a local oscillator 2 to produce a first pseudo baseband signal having error. The first pseudo baseband signal is supplied to a wide band PLL type demodulator 15. A low-pass filter 26 removes noise component from a first control signal from a loop filter 19 in the wide band PLL type demodulator 15 to produce a second control signal. Multipliers 24 and 25 multiply the first pseudo baseband signal with an output of a voltage-controlled oscillator 27 controlled by a second control signal to produce a second pseudo baseband signal having smaller frequency error. The second pseudo baseband signal is supplied to a narrow band demodulator 14 and converted into a baseband signal.

The satellite broadcasting receiver is designed to control the frequency shift so that the amplitude of the demodulation signal be constant, thereby making uniform the bandwidth of the intermediate frequency filter, so as to be capable of receiving by one filter. At this time, the frequency shift can be controlled continuously, from large to small one, in a predetermined exclusive bandwidth. When further expandlng the frequency shift, since the exclusive bandwidth is extended, and the noise electric power is increased and the receiving sensitivity is lowered as compared with the exclusive machine. Accordingly, when expanding the frequency shift, the noise bandwidth is narrowed in the PLL demodulator, thereby enhancing the receiving sensitivity.

An FM modulated signal is mixed with a pair of first local signals to be converted to a pair of base band signals by mixers (4I,4Q). The base band signals are respectively mixed with a pair of second local signals by mixers (8I,8Q). The resultant signals are added by an adder (12), thereby yielding an IF signal which is in turn detected. The local oscillator (11) generates a reference signal whose frequency is a predetermined number of times higher than the frequency of a carrier component of the IF signal and generates a second local signal by frequencing-dividing the reference signal. The frequency of the first local signal converges to the one that has a given ratio to the frequency of the reference signal.
