    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide a detection apparatus and a detection method for a received signal strength indicator. The method includes: receiving a modulated signal data stream from a microwave transmit end, and performing amplification on the modulated signal data stream according to an amplification control signal, where the amplification control signal is used to indicate the number of amplification times for the amplification performed on the modulated signal data stream; performing analog-to-digital conversion on the amplified modulated signal data stream to obtain a first digital signal data stream; filtering the first digital signal data stream; performing power detection on the first digital signal data stream to obtain a first average power value; performing power detection on a filtered first digital signal data stream to obtain a second average power value; obtaining the amplification control signal according to the first average power value; and obtaining an RSSI value by calculation according to the amplification control signal and the second average power value. In the embodiments of the present invention, power detection is performed on all bandwidth of the first digital signal data stream, thereby avoiding a transition of the amplification control signal.

    摘要: A packet-based radio receiver (10) comprises an automatic gain control system (17) and a signal-level detector (18, 19, 20) for monitoring an analogue signal derived from radio signals received by the radio receiver. The signal-level detector (18, 19, 20) comprises a binary memory cell (22, 24) and a monitoring system. The monitoring system comprises a comparator (21, 23) arranged to receive a reference voltage at a first input and the analogue signal at a second input. The monitoring system is arranged to (i) continuously monitor the voltage of the analogue signal, (ii) detect when the monitored signal exceeds the reference voltage, and (iii) store a predetermined binary value in the memory cell (22, 24) in response to such a detection. The automatic gain control system (17) is arranged to control the gain of a variable-gain component (12, 13, 14) of the radio receiver in dependence on the contents of the binary memory cell (22, 24).

    摘要: There is provided automatic gain control of radio chains of a receiver. At least two radio frequency (RF) signals are received. Each RF signal is received on an individual radio chain from an antenna array. By comparing the at least two RF signals to a threshold it is determined whether to perform gain control or not of at least one of the at least two RF signals before analogue combining of the at least two RF signals. A notification is sent to a detector regarding whether gain control is performed or not. Analogue combining of the at least two RF signals is performed, thereby generating a single input to the detector.

The method includes determining a gain level at which a signal does not under-saturate or over-saturate an input to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) by performing a binary search over a fixed set of gain levels while an offset is fixed. The method also includes determining an offset correction to bring an unmodulated carrier level at an output of the ADC to a target level. The method may also include updating the gain and the offset in response to changes in a signal level.
