Abstract:
Provided is a program providing system capable of realizing provision of a program dependent on a user. The program providing system consists mainly of a set-top box STB, an television receiver TV, and a mobile phone MS. The set-top box STB and television receiver TV receive program data broadcasted from a broadcasting station BC and provide a user with a program represented by the program data. The mobile phone MS is accommodated by a mobile communication network MN and has an ID code (identification information), with which a user can be identified, stored in a memory thereof. The mobile phone MS transmits a control signal, to which the ID code is included, to the set-top box STB. The ID code and associated attribute information are stored in the set-top box STB. Upon receipt of a control signal sent from the mobile terminal MS, the set-top box acts according to the attribute information associated with the ID code included in the control signal.
Abstract:
The protection of data against illicit transfer with respect to specific data can be ensured. An integrated receiver decoder determines whether or not ATRAC (Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding) data requiring authentication is contained in selected piece-of-music data in accordance with determination data added into transmitted data. When ATRAC data requiring authentication is contained, the integrated receiver decoder performs an authentication process between it and a storage which is a transfer destination of the ATRAC data, and performs downloading of the ATRAC data after confirming that the storage is a valid apparatus to which the downloading may be performed.
Abstract:
A receiver unit receives control-information-program data indicative of program-data-reception permission/inhibition given to each receiver and transfers such received data to a host device. The host device analyzes the control-information-program data supplied from the receiver unit and sends back an analysis result to the receiver unit. The receiver unit stores the analysis result from the host device and determines whether or not to transfer received data to the host device for transfer of only received data that is determined to be transferred to the host device.

Abstract:
Provided are apparatuses and methods for providing a program or service transmission with associated ESG fragment(s) to a receiver within a designated location. Parameters, elements or sub-elements may be included in a service guide or other data fragment indicating the location within which the program, service and corresponding ESG fragment(s) may be broadcast. Also, the parameters, elements or sub-elements may be associated with a first network type and may be mapped to corresponding parameters, elements or sub-elements of a second network type. In one example, location parameters, elements or sub-elements corresponding to an OMA BCAST network may be mapped with corresponding location parameters, elements or sub-elements corresponding to a CDMA network. The location information may be transmitted in an ESG fragment or other data fragment. A Network Management module may also be provided for transmitting data to a desired location based on the location information and corresponding mapped location information.
Abstract:
A transmitter (110) which transmits a signal (120) for reception by a receiving device (130). The transmitter is arranged to insert into the signal an indication of a geographical region where the signal physically can be received. Preferably the geographical region is indicated in the signal using geometrical shapes. The receiving device receives one or more signals, each of the signals carrying an indication of a respective geographical region where the respective signal physically can be received, and is arranged to determine its locale from said indications. The receiver can compute the intersection of the sets of geometrical shapes carried in the various signals it received as the geographical region it is in. Based on its determined locale the receiver can restrict access to content, if such content is restricted to certain regions.

Provided are apparatuses and methods for providing a program or service transmission with associated ESG fragment(s) to a receiver within a designated location. Parameter, elements or sub-elements may be included in a service guide or other data fragment indicating the location within which the program, service and corresponding ESG fragment(s) may be broadcast. For example, a Cell ID may be indicated as an element or sub-element in an ESG fragment to indicate the location in which a program or service may be broadcast. Also, Cell IDs may be grouped to indicate a larger region in which to broadcast a program or service and corresponding ESG fragment(s) in a service guide.
Abstract:
In a cellular phone terminal (100), a bit error rate measurement section (103) measures a bit error rate of broadcast data received by a broadcast reception section (102) for receiving a digital broadcast to output broadcast data while a transmission operation of a communication transmission section (106) for wirelessly communicating with a broadcasting communication network is performed. When the measured bit error rate is equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold, stopping of the transmission operation of the communication transmission section (106) is instructed. Thus, a failure such as interruption of television broadcasting reproduction can preliminarily be prevented by avoiding error occurrence in reception of the 1 segment broadcasting service due to an influence of a transmission electric wave in data communication. As a result, stable reception of the 1 segment broadcasting service can be executed.
Abstract:
A broadcast receiver comprises a decoding section (16) which decodes an encoded charged broadcast signal, a distribution control section (24) which controls to a predetermined number of devices a condition for permitting distribution to an external television image receiver (V1, V2, V3), of the decoded voice/video image signal, and a communicating section (26) which identifies the external television image receiver (V1, V2, V3) under this control and makes communication so as to distribute the voice/video image signal. A charged broadcast can be freely distributed to an arbitrary television image receiver within a predetermined number of devices.
