Abstract: A data caching method for an Ethernet device is provided. The method includes: receiving data frames from various Ethernet interfaces and converting the Ethernet data frames received from the Ethernet interfaces into data frames having a uniform bit width and a uniform encapsulation format; maintaining a cache address in which data has already been written and a currently idle cache address in a cache; receiving the currently idle cache address and generating a write instruction and/or a read instruction for the cache and performing a write operation and/or a read operation so as to write the data received and processed by an IPC into the currently idle cache or to read data from the cache; and performing bit conversion and format encapsulation on the data that is read according to a read request and outputting the data subjected to the bit conversion and the format encapsulation through a corresponding Ethernet interface. A data caching system for an Ethernet device is also provided. By means of the data caching method and system provided herein, the expandability and the high bandwidth storage capacity of a network switching device can be improved, a high bandwidth utilization rate is achieved, and it becomes possible to improve bandwidth utilization rate based on traffic management.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a data packet forwarding method, including: receiving a data packet, and checking whether an entry that matches the data packet exists in a first match table; if the entry that matches the data packet does not exist in the first match table, obtaining a local physical address and a destination physical address of the data packet, and determining whether the local physical address is the same as the destination physical address; if the local physical address is different from the destination physical address, searching a second match table for an entry in which a physical address matches the destination physical address, and generating a layer 2 forwarding entry according to the entry that matches the destination physical address; and forwarding the data packet according to the layer 2 forwarding entry. Correspondingly, the present invention further discloses a network device. In the present invention, a new data packet can be matched by using a forwarding rule learned by a software layer. Therefore, processing efficiency of the new data packet is improved, and further, network performance is improved.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a computer device, a system, and a load balancing method, so as to resolve prior-art problems of service interruption caused by switchover between an active load balancing mode and a standby load balancing mode, and congestion caused by centralized load balancing. In the embodiments of the present invention, a load balancing virtual machine is created on each computer device, and when load balancing processing needs to be performed on a service of a virtual machine of the computer device, a related service packet is sent only to the load balancing virtual machine of the computer device so as to perform load balancing processing, thereby avoiding a processing delay caused by congestion of centralized load balancing. In addition, when a computer device is faulty, a virtual machine of the computer device goes offline accordingly, and a load balancing requirement is not generated any more. Therefore, when a fault of a single computer device causes a fault of a load balancing virtual machine, there is no service interruption that is caused by active/standby switchover because of the fault of the load balancing virtual machine.

Abstract: Examples relate to collecting domain name system traffic. In one example, a computing device may: receive, from a first intermediary network device, a DNS query packet that was sent by a client computing device operating on a private network, the DNS query packet specifying i) a query domain name, and ii) a source address that specifies the client computing device; store, in a data storage device, a query record specifying the query domain name and the source address specified by the DNS query packet; receive, from a second intermediary network device, a DNS response packet; determine that the DNS response packet specifies a response domain name that matches the query domain name; in response to the determination, extract, from the DNS response packet, a resolved address that corresponds to the response domain name; and store, in the query record, the resolved address specified by the DNS response packet.

Abstract: There is provided a method of operating a switch (10; 22) or an access node (20) in a network (2; 12), the switch or access node having a plurality of interfaces (64) through which data packets (30) can be received and forwarded, the network (2; 12) further comprising one or more gateway nodes (6; 16) and one or more user terminals (4; 14), each of the gateway nodes and the user terminals having a respective address, the method in the switch or access node comprising identifying the address for at least one of the gateway nodes (101); comparing a source address (32) specified in a data packet received from a user terminal at one of the interfaces of the switch or access node to the identified addresses for the one or more gateway nodes (103, 105); storing the source address specified in the data packet and the identity of the interface through which the data packet was received if the source address specified in the data packet does not match an address for any of the one or more gateway nodes (107); and discarding the data packet if the source address specified in the data packet matches an address for any of the one or more gateway nodes (111).
