Abstract:
A system for managing a subscription for a data communications network comprises a main device having a data connection to the data communications network under a subscription, at least one other device capable of forming a data connection to the data communications network under said subscription, means for determining a proximity of the main device and the other device with respect to each others, and means for applying a combined subscription charging model for the data connection of the other device when the proximity is verified. The solution also concerns a method for managing a subscription a data communications network.
Abstract:
A system and method of providing a prepaid subscriber service to a mobile subscriber in an integrated wireless telecommunications network (10) having a circuit-switched portion and a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) packet-switched portion. A prepaid subscriber class (PPSC) (40) is stored in a home location register (HLR)(16), and the PPSC is sent from the HLR to a serving mobile switching center (MSC) (11) when the subscriber registers in the circuit-switched portion of the network. The PPSC is sent from the HLR to a serving GPRS support node (SGSN)(12) when the subscriber registers in the packet-switched portion of the network. Also, the PPSC may be sent from the SGSN to a Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) (25) in order to indicate that the subscriber is a prepaid subscriber. When the mobile subscriber begins a packet-switched data session, the SGSN, GGSN, or both periodically send partial call data records (CDRs) to a prepaid center (PPC)(19). When the mobile subscriber begins a circuit-switched call, the MSC periodically sends partial CDRs to the PPC. The PPC calculates in near real time, a new account balance for the prepaid subscriber. The current call is disconnected, and prepaid services are stopped when the account balance is reduced to zero.
Abstract:
A converged network accessible by client terminals is provided. The converged network includes a wide area network, a local area network, and a gateway linked to the wide area and local area networks. The gateway integrates billing and authentication functions of the wide area and local area networks.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a converged charging module (31), for use in a cellular telecommunications system, comprising: a Service Switching Function module (52), capable of emulating a voice based circuit switch; and a prepaid interface adapter (65), so that a prepaid charging module (7) appears to be communicating with a voice based circuit switch using a voice call protocol; and at least one Service Control Function module (53, 54), capable of emulating control functions of the prepaid charging module (7); and a data interface adapter (61), so that a data network element (21) appears to be communicating with the prepaid charging module (7); and a Session Control Core (51), in communication with the at least one Service Switching Function module (52) and the at least one Service Control Function module (53, 54), and capable of translating data received from the data network element (21), using the data service protocol, to simulate a voice call using the voice call protocol for output to the prepaid charging module (7). In a second aspect, the invention relates to a Session Control Core (51) for translating data received from a data network element (21), using a data service protocol, to simulate a voice call using a voice call protocol for output to a prepaid charging module (7), comprising a state machine capable of processing a request from a user for a service, irrespective of whether the requested service is a data service or a voice service.
Abstract:
A communications environment includes a first end user unit configured for performing network-based communications and a web site corresponding to a specific entity. The web site provides, upon an accessing of the web site, private communications between the first end user unit and the specific entity.
Abstract:
A method for construction and communication of data for charging and billing for network access and service transactions, which comprises the step of generating (100) a Charging data Record (CDR) for each connection of a User Equipment (UE) a telecommunication network. Service providing servers accessed by the UE generate in two steps Event Detail Records (EDRs); first step (104) is tagging each event caused by a user of said UE, second step (106) is assigning transaction ID and transaction details to said tag. Further the CDR and EDR are collated (108) with the tags to create a Session Detail Record (SDR). The SDR is sent (118) to a mediation and routing engine processes (120) the SDR to the required format. Then the SDR is forwarded (122) to a rating engine, which expands (124) said tages, calculates and adds charges (126). The said SDR is forwarded (128) to a billing server for generating (130) a unified bill and finally the unified bill is sent (132) to the user of the UE.
Abstract:
A system (700) manages the operations of an integrated communications provider. One aspect of the system is a work flow engine. The work flow engine decomposes the service model into sub-model components based upon whether crossing of plural networks is appropriate to provide requested telecommunication services and which service providers are available to provide service consistent with the location of the customer. The work flow engine also creates a telecommunications design (713) from the sub-model components based on order rules of the service providers. The system automatically retrieves customer service records (703) and preparing sales proposals based on those records. The system includes a gateway to incumbent local exchange carriers and trading partner (715) service providers. The system incorporates features that automate comparisons between existing services and proposed services, optimizing on-net and off-net services, creation of cutover reports, issuance of service requests to local exchange carriers and trading partners (715), and alarming of failures of confirmations.
