Abstract:
A system and method for managing a billing account including a client device, a transceiver, logic configured to establish at least one primary account wherein the at least one primary account represents periodic fees that are charged to the billing account on a periodic basis; and logic configured to establish at least one secondary account wherein the at least one secondary account represents an amount of prepaid service that is available for the billing account.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a system and method for implementing prepaid data services in a mobile communication network. In this system, a Data service Access Control Point (DACP), which is used for fulfilling price confirmation function and fee application function for data services, is added between a Service Control Point (SCP) storing prepaid account information of subscribers and a Prepaid Server/Content of Process Gateway (PPS/CP GW) used for data service charging. In the method of the present invention, by means of the interaction among a Packet Data Service Note (PDSN), a Home Authentication Authorization and Accounting (HAAA) server, the PPS/CP GW, the DACP and the SCP, the SCP deducts the fees from the prepaid account, and the PDSN controls the subscriber to utilize data service according to the fees deducted by the SCP. With the present invention, the subscriber can make prepayment for a data service by a prepaid voice account, which facilitates data service extension of mobile network operators and provides convenient data services for the subscribers.
Abstract:
The invention discloses a system and method for implementing data service prepayment in the mobile communication network. In the system, establishing a data service access control point (DACP) for achieving price of data service and cost application function between service control point (SCP) storing user prepayment account information and prepayment server/service content service gateway (PPS/CP GW) for data service charging. In the method of the invention, SCP recoups charge in the account of prepayment user making use of packet data service point (PDSN), home certification, authorization and charging server (HAAA), PPS/CP GW, DACP and SCP interaction, PDSN control user to use data service based on cost recouped by SCR Through this invention, user can prepayment data service by voice prepayment account, so that facilities development of data service for mobile communication operator, and usage of data service for user.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing prepaid wireless services. One embodiment includes a mobile unit configured to maintain an amount of time units for which the mobile unit is authorized to utilize wireless services. The amount of time units is preferably prepaid for by the customer. The mobile unit prevents utilization of wireless services upon the expiration of the amount of prepaid time units. Furthermore, it is preferred that a prepaid application server receive notification from the wireless service provider of the use of time units by the mobile unit. In this manner, the prepaid application server may monitor the availability of time units and prevent fraudulent use when the amount of prepaid time units expire.
Abstract:
A network providing service to an end user may include a first client, a second client and a charging system. A method implemented by the network may include the first client receiving a service event that is destined for an end user and retrieving a first logical clock value from memory, where the first logical clock value specifies a number of service events received at the second client. The first client may increment a second logical clock value based on receipt of the service event and may construct a first time stamp parameter based on the first logical clock value and the second logical clock value. The first client may send a charging request to a charging system, where the charging request includes the first time stamp parameter and where the charging request requests credit authorization associated with providing the service event to the end user.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for call control using accounting information, wherein said control is on a per call basis. Accounting related restrictions (ACC) are entered for a certain call and these restrictions are supervised during said call. Said call is then automatically released and/or a user (Sub A) is notified, if the accounting related restrictions (ACC) are reached. For example credit limits can be entered as accounting related restrictions (ACC) by the user (Sub A). When the accounting related restrictions (ACC) are reached, a notification of the user (Sub A) can be done by a notification message and/or by an announcement and/or by a special tone. The administration of accounting related restrictions (ACC) can be done either via a so called subscriber control input (SCI) or by a menu selection point. The accounting related restrictions (ACC) can be administered for certain groups of users or called parties (Sub B) and/or for certain categories of calls made (e.g. local calls, international calls, calls to certain areas, etc.). The present invention provides a simple solution for offering the possibility to control the costs of a call or a transaction on a per call/transaction basis by entering accounting related information (e.g. amount, time, credit limit, etc.) as restrictions.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the network-controlled volume and/or time limitation of services based on GPRS/UMTS (2G/3G), wherein a number of data packets received or transmitted in an open or active telecommunications connection is determined within a time period set by the network operator, and is billed to a telecommunications customer using a corresponding calculation method. The invention is characterized in that the method has a network-controlled volume and/or time limitation on data packets within GPRS/UMTS-based services, which provides cost control for a user of telecommunications connections for the telecommunications services used.
