摘要: The invention provides apparatuses and methods relevant to image sensors configured for dual mode operation. The invention comprises an image sensor having an image sensor substrate having an array of pixels formed thereon. The array of pixels comprises (i) a first pixel region comprising a first array of pixels, which first array of pixels comprising pixels configured for peak sensitivity to wavelength(s) below 700 nm, and (ii) a second pixel region comprising a second array of pixels, which second array of pixels comprising pixels of a first pixel type and pixels of a second pixel type. Pixels of the first pixel type may be configured for peak sensitivity to wavelength(s) between 700 nm and 1000 nm. Pixels of the second pixel type may be configured for peak sensitivity to wavelength(s) below 700 nm. The invention additionally provides apparatuses incorporating the image sensor and methods for fabricating said image sensor.

Determination means includes a three-dimensional color distribution data creation section that creates data on wavelength components of R light, G light, and B light from the granules, on a three-dimensional color space, a Mahalanobis distance interface creation section that sets an interface calculated based on a Mahalanobis distance to partition the data into a conforming-granule cluster area and a nonconforming granule cluster area, a Euclidean distance interface creation section that determines a position of center of gravity of the conforming granule cluster area and a position of center of gravity of the nonconforming granule cluster area to set an interface calculated based on a Euclidean distance at which the positions of center of gravity lie at a longest distance from each other, and a threshold determination section that determines a line of intersection between the interface calculated based on the Mahalanobis distance and the interface calculated based on the Euclidean distance, to determine the line of intersection to be a determination threshold that allows determination of whether or not the granules are to be treated as a separation target.

摘要: A method and apparatus for recording a composite image from a lens array are disclosed. A first composite image is recorded using a first lens providing imaging data in a first color, a second lens providing imaging data in a second color, and a third lens providing imaging data in a third color, wherein the first, second, and third colors are different colors. A second composite image is recorded using the first lens, a fourth lens providing imaging data in the second color, and a fifth lens providing imaging data in the third color. The first and second composite images are compared to identify color fringed areas. Based on the relative size and location of the color fringed areas in the first and second composite images, a de-fringing algorithm is applied to at least one of the composite images to mitigate the color fringing in the color fringed areas.

The minimal repeating unit has a plurality of cells wherein each cell has at least two pixels representing a specific color selected from the first group of pixels and a plurality of pixels selected from the second group of pixels arranged to permit the reproduction of a captured color image under different lighting conditions.
