摘要： An optical system for generating an image having extended depth of field. The system includes a phase mask and a chromatic wavefront coding lens. The chromatic wavefront coding lens provides axial color separation of light by generating specified chromatic aberration in an image created by the lens. The phase mask causes the optical transfer function of the optical system to remain substantially constant within a specified range away from the image plane, and the optical transfer function of the system contains no zeroes within at least one spectral passband of interest. Digital processing may be performed on the image to generate a final image by reversing a decrease in modulation transfer function generated by the phase mask.

The image sensor further comprises sampling and readout circuitry that includes, for each group of columns in the pixel array, a corresponding set of two or more column circuits. The sampling and readout circuitry is configured to sample the common output for each group of columns independently into one of the column circuits associated with that group, and to read out the common output for each group of columns as previously sampled into another of the column circuits associated with that group. The image sensor may be implemented in a digital camera or other type of image capture device.

摘要： The image sensor includes a first group and a second group of column readout circuits for reading out pixel signals from said pixels. The total number of column readout circuits in each group is substantially less than the number of columns in the image sensor pixel array. Further included is a multiplexer bus system having selection switches for selectively switching pixel signals from a block of pixels in a column as input into the first group of column readout circuits. The multiplexer bus system also selectively switches pixel signals from another block of pixels in a column as input into a second group of column readout circuits. However, when the first group of column readout circuits is reading and storing said pixel signals, the second group of column readout circuits is transferring out the processed signals. Thus, the first and second groups work alternately.
