摘要: A projector includes a lamp drive circuit which drives a lamp, and a lamp drive current detection unit which detects the lamp drive current. Based upon the lamp drive current which is detected, the lamp drive circuit controls the lamp drive current by PWM control, so as to drive the lamp at constant power. A control unit detects the pulse width of this PWM control signal for the lamp several times, after a constant time period has elapsed from when the power supply is turned ON, and includes a lamp shorted out decision unit which decides that the lamp is shorted out, if all of these pulse widths which have thus been detected are less than or equal to a predetermined width.

摘要: A method for automatically controlling the output power of a gas discharge lamp includes: detecting the luminous decay variation of the gas discharge lamp, according to the detected luminous decay variation, matching a corresponding actual power value for the gas discharge lamp; and according to the matched actual power value, regulating the output power of the gas discharge lamp. Accordingly, the invention also discloses an electronic ballast, including: a luminous decay sampling module(8), for detecting the luminous decay variation of the gas discharge lamp; a single chip microcomputer (7), for matching a corresponding actual power value for the gas discharge lamp according to the luminous decay variation detected by the luminous decay sampling module; and a half-bridge inverter(6), for regulating the output power of the gas discharge lamp according to the actual power value matched by the single chip microcomputer microcomputer. The electronic ballast can prolong the service life of the gas discharge lamp, and save more energy compared with existing electronic ballasts by the invention.

摘要: The switching frequency of an AC voltage applied to an LC series circuit including an inductor and a capacitor is swept near a frequency having a value given by dividing the resonant frequency of the LC series circuit by an odd number at startup of a discharge lamp and is set to a frequency near or higher than the frequency after the sweeping after the switching frequency is swept to control the on-off duty ratio of switching elements in a DC-AC inverter circuit and, after the operation at startup of the discharge lamp is repeated once or a few times, the switching frequency is made lower than the frequency after the sweeping to light the discharge lamp.

摘要: A ballast (e.g. a fluorescent light ballast) includes a primary ballast for powering the lamp from a power supply (e.g., utility line power) and an battery powered ballast for powering the lamp from a battery when the primary power supply is not energized by the power supply. When power supply power is restored to the ballast, the ballast shuts down the battery powered ballast and a switch circuit operably connects the lamp to the primary ballast. The ballast toggles the switch circuit such that the primary ballast detects replacement of a lamp and resets any fault detection or protection circuits (e.g., an end of lamp life circuit) that may have been triggered during the transition from battery power to power from the power supply.
