摘要: The subject invention includes a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) assembly or module (10) having a housing (12) with an inlet (14) and at least one outlet (16,18,20) for directing a flow of air into a passenger compartment. An evaporator core (22) is disposed within the housing (12) downstream of the inlet (14) and upstream from the outlet (16,18,20). A heater core (26) is disposed within the housing (12) between the evaporator core (22) and the outlet (16,18,20) with the heater core (26) having an upstream surface (28) generally facing the evaporator core (22) and a downstream surface (30) generally facing the outlet (16,18,20). The heater core (26) includes a first portion (40) and a second portion (42) being angled relative to the first portion (40) such that the upstream surface (28) of the first portion (40) at least partially faces the upstream surface (28) of the second portion (42) to define an angled heater core (26) facing the evaporator core (22) wherein air flowing over the upstream surfaces (28) is evenly distributed across both of the first (40) and second (42) portions, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the heater core (26).

摘要: A refrigerator (10) includes an evaporator (18) formed from an elongated tube (30) wrapped with a ribbon of material (32) having spine fins (36) extending perpendicularly from the tube. Elongated, horizontal passes of tube are arranged in vertically extending rows (38,40,42) defining vertically extending air flow passages. Fins (36) extending into the lower portions of the air flow passages are bent from their perpendicular relationship with the tube (30).

摘要: A spine fin refrigerator evaporator (15) is formed of lower and upper sections of elongated straight runs (22), which have fins (25) thereon and have their ends connected to each other by return bent ends (24). The lower section (27) is formed with two rows of the elongated straight runs (22) in an A shape to provide a passage therebetween through which air initially flows through the evaporator (15) so that frost can be gathered without blocking air flow therethrough. The upper section (28) has three rows of the elongated straight runs (22) with the fins (25) of adjacent rows overlapping each other to provide an efficient heat transfer from the refrigerant in the elongated straight runs (22) to the air whereby the lower (27) and upper sections (28) combine to provide a practical and efficient evaporator (15). If desired, the upper and lower sections can be vertically spaced from each other to have a defrost heater disposed therebetween.

摘要: A heat exchanger comprises a number of first heat transmission members (1a-1c) having apertures (13) formed therethrough, the heat transmission members extending in the direction of a secondary fluid flow (A). Second heat transmission members (2) are coupled thermally to the first heat transmission members and carry a primary fluid. The heat transmission is enhanced by producing a pressure difference between opposite sides of each first heat transmission member. Part of the secondary fluid flow passes through the apertures due to the pressure difference, but the main flow of the secondary fluid is guided along the first heat transmission members. The flow through the apertures improves the heat transfer to the secondary fluid. The pressure difference may be produced by corrugating the first heat transmission members so that the corrugations lie across the secondary fluid flow and by arranging the corrugations of each member so that they are out of phase with those of the adjacent members. This produces regions of alternately high and low pressure along each flow path between adjacent members, so that the direction of the pressure difference across the apertures reverses from one region to the next. The corrugations are preferably trapezoidal. Alternatively, the pressure difference may be produced by mounting fans in the flow paths and/or by throttling one or more of the paths.
