In a rotating electrical machine a stator winding is formed of flexible cables (20, 22, 26) inserted in open stator in the stator core. The stator slots extend from a radially outermost yoke part of the stator core radially inwards towards the rotor, the stator slots being separated by teeth. The stator slots are shaped as double slots with shoulders (24, 28) arranged in the slot walls in such a manner that each cable in the winding is secured between the previous cable in the stator slot and, seen from the slot opening, the next shoulder situated outside that particular cable. In a method for manufacturing such a winding the first cable (20) is inserted through the opening of the stator slot and pressed firmly into a cable slot arranged at the bottom of the stator slot and designed to retain the cable when it has been pressed in, whereupon a second cable (22) is inserted through the opening of the stator slot and secured between this first cable and an opposing securing shoulder (24) in the wall of the slot, after which a third cable (26) is inserted through the opening in the stator slot and secured between said second cable (22) and a securing shoulder (28) in the slot wall opposite the second cable, and so on.

The invention relates to a device for installing at least one linear motor line in the grooves (14) of an inductor (15) which is situated underneath a cover plate (10). The device comprises a vehicle (31) which can be moved on said cover plate (10), a supply (34) of line (16), a device (36, 40) for forming the meander of the line (16), a device (35) for drawing the line (16) from the supply (34) and for delivering the line (16) to the device (36) and a tool (42) for pressing the line (16) into the grooves (14). The invention solves the technical problem of enabling the line to be installed automatically, even if the spacing of the grooves varies in dimension, by providing for an assembly slide (46) which can be moved in relation to the vehicle (31). Said slide is located at least partially under the cover plate (10) and the device (36, 40) and tool (42) are located thereon. A measuring device (52) for measuring the position and the spacing (A) of the grooves (14) is also provided, as is a computer for processing the measuring data and for controlling the position of the assembly slide (46), the forming device (36, 40) and the tool (42).The invention also relates to a corresponding method for installing at least one linear motor line.

The magnetic circuit of synchronous compensator plant is included in an electric machine which is directly connected to a high supply voltage of 20-800 kV, preferably higher than 36 kV. The electric machine is provided with solid insulation and its winding(s) is/are built up of a cable (6) intended for high voltage comprising one or more current-carrying conductors (31) with a number of strands (36) surrounded by at least one outer and one inner semiconducting layer (34, 32) and intermediate insulating layers (33). The outer semiconducting layer (34) is at earth potential. The phases of the winding are Y-connected, and the Y-point may be insulated and protected from over-voltage by means of surge arresters, or else the Y-point is earthed via a suppression filter. A procedure is used in the manufacture of a synchronous compensator for such plant, in which the cable used is threaded into the openings in the core for the magnetic circuit of the synchronous compensator.
