摘要: A rotary shear valve having three-point stator seating is provided. Three contact points are predetermined between a bottom of the stator and a valve body rim and three clamping pads may also be predetermined. The three clamping pads and the three points of contact between stator and the valve body rim are corresponding and aligned when the rotary shear valve is assembled so that the clamping or compression forces on both sides of the stator directly oppose one another, thereby effectively canceling each other. In one embodiment, the stator includes three contact points on the bottom surface proximate the periphery of the stator to contact the valve rim and a gasket includes three clamping pads proximate the periphery of the gasket web to apply a compression force on the top surface of the stator above the three contact points.

摘要: A height control valve (50) is preferably adapted to be mounted in a trailing arm suspension and fluidly interconnected to a source (58) of pressurized air and to an air spring (52). The height control valve (50) comprises a housing (61) having a cylindrical bore (76), a supply port (62), an exhaust port (70) and an air spring port (66) each of which extends through the housing (61) and fluidly communicates with the bore (76). A rotor (78) is preferably rotatably mounted in the bore (76) and interconnected to the arm wherein pivotal movement of the arm rotates the rotor (78) with respect to the housing (61) between first, second and third rotational positions. A plurality of seals (88, 90, 92, 94) is preferably located between the rotor (78) and the bore (76) defining a flow passage between the bore (76) and the rotor (78) wherein in the first rotational position, the flow passage isolates the air spring port (66) from both the supply port (62) and the exhaust port (70), in the second rotational position the flow passage interconnects the air spring port (66) with the supply port (62), and in the third rotational position the flow passage interconnects the air spring port (66) with the exhaust port (70).

摘要: There is provided a low profile valve assembly (10) for controlling flow of air and the like. The valve assembly includes a housing (16) defining inlet and outlet ports and a valve operator located within the housing. The operator includes a body portion (56) seated in the housing with an axis of rotation and defining an internal passage with inlet and outlet ends. An actuator (68) rotates the body portion a first predetermined distance to a fill position to allow flow through the internal passage and a second predetermined distance opposite the first direction to a vent position to allow flow to vent from the valve assembly through the outlet end. A spring (92) extends from the valve operator adjacent the body portion between the axis of rotation and the valve housing. The spring extends partially about the axis of rotation to bias the body portion to an off position to substantially prohibit flow through the valve operator when the body portion is not being actuated to the fill and vent positions. The spring operates substantially within an internal space in the operator about the axis of rotation. The valve assembly includes an orifice to reduce volume flow through the valve assembly and an exhaust passage portion to reduce flow pressure between the inlet and outlet ends.

The method comprises the steps of firstly inserting the valve into a balance housing (222), then secondly determining the neutral position of the inputshaft (2) relative to the sleeve, then thirdly fixing the neutral position by rotational connection of the inputshaft and torsion bar (8). The pressure medium used to determine the neutral position is gaseous medium such as air. The rotational connection of the input shaft (2) and torsion bar (8) is effected by a bonding process such as adhesive bonding (11), soldering, brazing or welding. The interface between the bore of the input shaft (2) and the fixing end of the torsion bar (8) has a support region (12) and a bonding region (13). The diametral clearance at the bonding region (13) is more than at the support region (12) so that an annular cavity (100) is provided for the bonding agent (11).

A one piece sleeve (34) for a rotary valve (31), the sleeve (34) comprising an array of inlet (26) and return (27) slots formed in the bore of the sleeve, the inlet slots (26) being stopped short of the axial extremities of the bore, the return slots (27) extending to one extremity of the bore providing an exit area for return oil when the sleeve is installed in the rotary valve, characterised in that at least one said return slot is also extended to the other axial extremity of the sleeve bore providing an entry area (24) for leakage oil when the sleeve is installed in the rotary valve, the entry area (24) provided for leakage oil being substantially smaller than the exit area provided for return oil.
