摘要: An operable syringe assembly (20) includes a barrel (21) having a chamber (22) for retaining fluid. A proximal end (28) of the barrel includes an aperture (29) therethrough. A distal end (25) of the barrel includes a passageway (27) therethrough communicating with the chamber. A stopper (35) is slidably positioned in fluid-tight engagement inside the barrel. A plunger rod (37), having an elongate body portion (38), engages the stopper (35) to facilitate operation of the stopper. The body portion (38) of the plunger rod extends outwardly from the proximal end of the barrel, through the aperture. A flexible cover (40) is attached to the barrel covering the aperture and containing that portion of the body portion of the plunger rod protruding from the aperture. The cover (40) is flexible enough and strong enough to allow movement of the plunger rod for operating the syringe without tearing. The cover acts as a barrier for helping to block the transfer of fluid and particulate matter between the chamber and the environment.

Auf diese Weise wird die Belastung des Patienten bei Abnahme und Anschluß des Überleitungsschlauches vermindert.

摘要: The present invention relates to a device for storing a discrete quantity of liquid for use with a medical syringe, for example, a device for storing a radio-nuclide liquid for use in a bolus injection. The device (1) comprises a body member (10) having a core member (11) covered by a cylindrical sleeve (12) of clear plastics material. A liquid passageway for storing a radionuclide for the bolus injection is formed by a helical groove (15) around the core member (11). A female connecting member (17) at one end of the body member, connects the device (1) to a syringe (2). A male connecting member (18) at the other end of the body member is provided to connect the device (1) to a needle (3). Bores (19 and 20) connect the helical groove (15) to the syringe (2) and needle (3).

摘要: A blood collector comprising a collection container in the form of a tube having a forward end adapted for drawing of blood into the container and an opened rear end, a closure unit adapted for closing the opened rear end of the collection container, and a mechanism for allowing passage of air when blood is flowing into said container and preventing passage of air and blood when said container is filled with blood, said mechanism having a filter member containing water insoluble but water-swellable polymeric material and provided to at least the contact portion of the closure member with collected blood. Air contained in the blood collecting space of the collection container is expelled through the valving element by the collected blood which rises to a desired level for expelling air from said space practically completely. As the clood contacts the water insoluble but water-swellable high polymeric material contained in the valving element, the material is swollen into gel body to block the air passage in the valving element connecting to outside of the collector. Thus blood analysis may be effected without influences by outside air and air otherwise contained in the blood collecting space.

摘要: This invention consists of a syringe (10) with a thin walled plastic reservoir (26) lodged under a collapsible roof (22) that is located at the distal end of the syringe barrel adjacent the needle (42). Hermetically stored in the thin walled reservoir is a local anesthetic. Depression of the syringe plunger (18) applies pressure to the collapsible roof (22) which compresses sharp projections (28) through the walls of the plastic reservoir. The sharp projections rupture the plastic reservoir (26) and the continued depression of the plunger induces flow of the anesthetic through a filter (64) and one way valve (68) into a porous needle (42). The porous needle projects forward of a second needle (20). This second needle is coupled to the syringe cylinder for passage of fluids. The openings (44) along the length of the porous needle provide for flow of the local anesthetic in multiple directions which results in anesthetization of the region through which the needles are passed in search of a vein or body cavity.

The hub (14) comprises a body (30) with an open cavity (31) and a cannula (35) in fluid communication therewith. A mating detent mechanism (28, 39) is provided on the syringe (12) and the hub (14) for connecting same in a snap-fit relationship. This detent mechanism (28, 39) also provides for the connection of the hub (14) to the syringe (12) in a tight fit relationship for an essentially non-separable functional union of the syringe (12) and hub (14) components. A shield (16) is preferably removably connected to the hub (14) and serves to protect the cannula (35) prior to use of the syringe (12).
