The com- poaite compact preferably is a composite polycrystalline diamond compact. A flexible sheet material characterised in that it comprises: (a) a straight warp fabric comprising: (i) an array of warp yarns that extend generally parallel to one another in a first plane; (ii) an array of weft yarns that extend generally parallel to one another in a second plane adjacent and parallel to the first plane, the weft yarns extending generally transversely of the warp yarns; and (iii) a stitching yarn network joining the array of warp yarns and the array of weft yarns to one another; (b) a dipsize of flexible polymeric material that coats and at least partially impregnates all yams of the straight warp fabric; (c) an intermediate filling coat of phenol/formaldehyde resin/latex; (d) an outer filling coat of phenol/formaldehyde resin; and (e) an adhesive coat overlying the outer filling coat securing abrasive grains; the sheet material exhibiting not more than 6.0 percent elongation in the direction of the warp yarns when subjected to a load less than that required to rupture the fabric and not exceeding 170 pounds per inch (30 kg per cm) of fabric width is disclosed. A flexible sheet material characterised in that it comprises: (a) a straight warp fabric comprising a warp side and a weft side all yarns of the fabric comprising a penetrating dipsize of flexible polymeric material and the dipsized fabric being heat set; (b) a backfill filling the interstices and encapsulating the yarns of the warp yarn array of the base coated fabric, the backfill comprising approximately equal parts, by weight, of finely divided calcium carbonate and finely divided magnesium carbonate dispersed in a flexible synthetic polymer resin; (c) a backsizing applied to the warp side of the back filled fabric, the backsizing comprising a synthetic heat reactive polymer latex and finely divided calcium carbonate filler in about 1:1 ratio on a dry weight basis; (d) a facefilling applied to the weft yarn side of the fabric comprising a phenolic resin having a calcium carbonate filler dispersed therein is also disclosed. Such materials are particularly suitable flexible backing materials for use in coated abrasives and offer advantages over the prior art.

A tool insert comprises an abrasive compact comprising a polycrystalline mass of cubic boron nitride particles present in an amount of at least 70 percent by volume and containing substantial direct particle-to-particle bonding and a second phase dispersed through the cubic boron nitride particle mass. The abrasive compact presents major surfaces on each of opposite sides thereof. The one major surface provides a cutting point for the insert and the other major surface has bonded thereto a layer of molybdenum of thickness less than 0,5 mm. The largest linear dimension of the compact is no more than 10 mm. The tool insert is designed for applications where a high removal rate of work piece is desired.

A coated abrasive product which comprises a fabric backing, a layer of abrasive grain and at least one layer of resin between the backing and abrasive grain. Hollow microspheres are present and at least partly and usually entirely embedded in the resin layer. In general, such hollow microspheres comprise hollow spherical bodies which may be of glass or plastic materials such as a phenolic resin, which have a diameter of from about 5 to about 500 microns and an average diameter of from about 25 to about 150 microns. Such hollow microspheres generally have a shell thickness which averages from about 5 to about 20 percent of the diameter of the microsphere. Such microspheres are usually incorporated into the resin layer in an amount of from about 5 to about 20 percent by weight of the resin layer. The invention further includes a process for manufacturing a coated abrasive product which comprises coating a fabric backing with a resin followed by application of abrasive grain to the resin wherein hollow microspheres are incorporated into the resin coating.

Zur einfachen und billigen Herstellung von Schleifschuh (8) wird ein Profilkörper (9) und das Schleifband (11) in einem Schäumwerkzeug (1) befestigt. Nach dem Ausschäumen ist das Schleifband (11) konturentreu mit dem ausgehärteten Schaumstoff verbunden.
