    摘要: Multiple-resolution, interlace, ink-jet printing is accomplished using a single array with multiple nozzles by assuming a pseudo pel (picture element) spacing k' between the nozzles. The ratio between the old resolution and the new resolution is k'/k where k is the number of actual pel spacings between the nozzles. The print-data must be processed and the print head moved based on the pseudo pel spacing k'. The array of nozzles will still print in an interlace manner so long as k' and Nt (the total number of ink jet nozzles used) have no common factor. The figure shows the print-data supplied to the head array (33) from main memory (52) loaded from data source organiser (51). The data is supplied at a timing controlled by clock generator (50) which provides sets of (3) clock signals, each set comprising a line sync signal, a cycle clock signal and a data clock signal. Each printing resolution requires an individual set of generator-clock-signals and each set is different. The required print resolution is decoded by decoders (23) and used in conjunction with the appropriate set of clock signals to control entry of data into memory (52) by source organiser (51) and printing.

    摘要: An enlarged picture output apparatus includes a picture pattern enlargement converting circuit for applying an enlargement conversion processing to an input picture pattern. The enlargement conversion processing is such that patterns of the first and final columns of a picture pattern en- laged are configured by the same patterns as those of the first and final columns of the input picture pattern, respectively, such that each pattern of the 2n-th column of the picture pattern enlarged is configured by a pattern expressed by a false binary digit alone, and such that when at least either of picture elements corresponding to the n-th and (n+1)-th columns of the input picture pattern is expressed by atrue binary digit, each pattern of the (2n + 1)-th column of the picture pattern enlarged is expressed by the true binary digit, while when expressed by the false binary digit, it is expressed by the false binary digit. A picture pattern enlargement-converted by the picture pattern enlargement converting circuit is output by means of a picture output circuit. The enlarged picture output apparatus is particularly suitable for a dot-matrix printer, thus making it possible to greatly improve the general impression of enlarged pictures such as characters printed with the printer without lowering printing speed.

    摘要: A dot-matrix printer having a print head (26) and a platen (27) allowing the head (26) to bring dot characters in normal printing mode and an extra-wide-margin printing mode. The printer has a microprocessor (20) which decides, in accordance with printing data from an external device, whether or not a wide dot character is to be printed at the left margin or right margin. When it decides that a wide dot character is to be printed at the left or right margin, the microprocessor controls a print head driver (25) so that the head (26) may print dot characters in the extra-wide-margin printing mode. The print head (26) can therefore print wide dot characters together with characters of ordinary width, neatly and clearly.
