    摘要: A non-glaring type reflector employing a liquid crystal layer (15) which is composed of liquid crystal matrix and dichroic coloring matter, and which provide a dynamic scattering effect or phase transition effect by applying an electric field. Except on the non-glaring operation, the molecular orientation of the liquid crystal matrix and dichroic coloring matter is uniform to cause a transparent state. On the non-glaring operation, the molecular orientation is at random, thereby the incident light is scattered by the liquid crystal matrix and the scattered light is absorbed by the dichroic coloring matter to result a decreased reflectance. The reflectance is controlled by applying a voltage into the liquid crystal layer.

    摘要: The present invention provides a rear view mirror for a motor vehicle which is automatically adjustable to prevent the effects of dazzle eg. by a vehicle approaching from behind at night. The mirror comprises an adjustable mirror surface (2) housed in a casing (3) and connected in an adjustable manner to an actuator (8) which engages an annular cam formation (26) having various cam profile heights whereby the mirror surface (2) can be adjusted by tilting. The cam formation (26) is part of a toothed wheel (11) driven by a small electric motor (21) the control circuit of which is actuated by a photosensor (38) so that mirror tilting is dependent on light intensity thresholds. The arrangement enables the@various mirror adjustments to be achieved using uni-directional rotation of the motor and the toothed wheel (11) and this has the advantage of providing more reliable operation with less noise. The present adjusting mirror is also relatively inexpensive to manufacture.

    摘要: A control apparatus for a reflection mirror of a vehicle is disclosed. The control apparatus is provided with a rear light sensor, an exterior light sensor and a circuit for driving the reflection mirror into a dazzle-free condition when it is detected by the sensors that an intensive rear light is incident from the rear of the vehicle and the exterior of the vehicle is dark-The control apparatus is further provided with a delay circuit which delays driving the reflection mirror into the dazzle-free condition for a predetermined interval of time after the exterior light sensor detects that the exterior of the vehicle is dark. The exterior light sensor may be a switching circuit which switches on and off front light bulbs of the vehicle. The control apparatus is still further provided with a delay circuit which keeps the dazzle-free condition for a predetermined interval of time even after the rear light ' sensor detects that the rear of the vehicle is dark.

    摘要: A casing (61) has a transparent window plate (7) sealed therein. A reflector plate (12) is mounted on a diaphram (66) which forms a sealed chamber (72) with the base (64) of the casing. The casing (61) is mounted on a conventional mirror adjustment mechanism (80). A plurality of concial compression springs (73) urge the reflector plate (12) against the inside surface of the window plate (7) in the day position of the reflector plate (12). To move the reflector plate (12) for a day position to a night position, a pump (84) draws an optically dense light attenuating fluid from a reservoir (82) and pumps it into an annular chamber (78) and between the window plate (7) and reflector plate (12), to move the reflector plate (12) rearwards so that the fluid forms a masking layer between the reflector plate (12) and window plate (7). The masking layer extinguishes reflections from the reflector plate (12) in the night position. A solenoid valve (79) prevents return of the fluid to the reservoir (82) in the night position.

    摘要: A rearview mirror system comprises an electrically controlled optical transmission plate disposed over a reflecting surface. The optical transmission plate is selectively operable to any of a number of different states of opaqueness between a miximum light transmission and a maximum opaqueness. The opaqueness of the optical transmission plate is controlled by an electronic circuit which includes two sensors, one for sensing the brightness of incident light from the field of view and the other for sensing ambient light. The control operates to cause the light which is incident on the reflecting surface to be closed loop regulated to a desired degree of brightness which is also correlated with ambient light conditions. A manually operable adjustment is also provided forthe observer to set a desired brightness characteristic.
