The present invention relates to SMAs (self-moving apparatuses) which use any type of propulsion means, including, without limitation, an FPGB (propeller-gear block) comprising an FP (propeller) and a drive for supplying power thereto. More particularly, the present invention describes: novel forms of energy-efficient (economical) FPGBs; and novel conceptual designs for SMAs, which make it possible to create economical SMAs with high specific power. The invention can be used for creating novel energy-efficient types of SMAs, and for the widespread (mass) use of compact and environmentally-friendly electric engines instead of environmentally detrimental and bulky internal combustion engines.

The invention relates to a propulsion unit 1 for a marine vessel 2 which is intended to operate in icy waters. The propulsion unit is an azimuthing thruster with a propeller 3 mounted on a capsule 6. The propulsion unit 1 can be rotated in relation to the hull of the marine vessel 2 such that the propulsion unit 1 can propel the marine vessel 2 in different directions. The propeller 3 can act on ice to cut blocks of ice. The propeller 3 has a hub 4 which is arranged to cut ice when the hub 4 meets an ice block. The invention also relates to a marine vessel using the inventive propulsion unit.

A variable-pitch propeller, especially for a sport board, has angularly displaceable blade support plates (1) which can be rotated about respective radial axes (2). The plates (1) are provided with radially inwardly directed claws (4) which engage in circumferential grooves (11) of bases (7) of the blades (8). The latter can have radial projections (12) reaching beneath the claws (4). The resulting bayonet connection simplifies mounting and dismounting of the propeller blades (8) even under water.
