Zur liegenden Positionierung von seriell zugeförderten, flachen Gegenständen (1) für eine Weiterförderung werden die Gegenstände (1) hängend zugefördert, wobei eine ihrer Hauptflächen (10) vorlaufend ist und die andere Hauptfläche (11) nachlaufend. Vor der Positionierung werden untere Kantenbereiche (13) der Gegenstände (1) gegenüber oberen Kantenbereichen (12) wahlweise beschleunigt oder verzögert, so dass die Gegenstände (1) in eine gegenüber der Senkrechten schiefe Lage kommen. Dann werden die oberen Kantenbereiche (12) entlassen und die Gegenstände (1) mit Hilfe der Schwerkraft auf einem Weiterfördermittel positioniert, wobei wahlweise die vorlaufende oder die nachlaufende Hauptfläche (10 oder 11) nach oben gerichtet ist. Für die Verzögerung bzw. Beschleunigung der unteren Kantenbereiche (13) wird beispielsweise ein Förderband oder zwei aneinander anschliessende Förderbänder verwendet, wobei die Geschwindigkeit (v.3) der Förderbänder für eine Umstellung von beschleunigendem zu verzögerndem Betrieb einstellbar ist. Der Hauptvorteil des beschriebenen Verfahrens und der beschriebenen Vorrichtung ist die einfache Umstellbarkeit. Verfahren und Vorrichtung sind beispielsweise anwendbar zum Zusammentragen von Druckprodukten oder von bedruckten Teilprodukten.
