摘要: The present disclosure concerns (a) a method for producing expandable silica pre-particles involving sintering or heat-pressing a mixture of silica powder, silica fume and at least one expanding agent or processing a mixture of silica powder, silica fume and at least one expanding agent with a binder in a pelletizer and (b) a method for producing expanded silica particles by providing expandable silica pre-particles obtainable by the method (a) with a coating on the outer surface thereof, wherein the coating comprises kaolin powder and talc powder, to form expandable silica particles and heating the expandable silica particles above the activation temperature of the expanding agent.

摘要: Next Generation DNA sequencing promises to revolutionize clinical medicine and basic research. However, while this technology has the capacity to generate hundreds of billions of nucleotides of DNA sequence in a single experiment, the error rate of approximately 1% results in hundreds of millions of sequencing mistakes. These scattered errors can be tolerated in some applications but become extremely problematic when "deep sequencing" genetically heterogeneous mixtures, such as tumors or mixed microbial populations. To overcome limitations in sequencing accuracy, a method Duplex Consensus Sequencing (DCS) is provided. This approach greatly reduces errors by independently tagging and sequencing each of the two strands of a DNA duplex. As the two strands are complementary, true mutations are found at the same position in both strands. In contrast, PCR or sequencing errors will result in errors in only one strand.

摘要: The present invention relates to a process for the manufacturing of a cement substitute, the process comprising the following steps:
a) mixing an alkaline aluminosilicate containing material with at least one aluminosilicate hydrate containing material,
b) heating the thus obtained mixture to a calcination temperature of below 800°C thereby forming a calcined product comprising a reactive amorphous phase having the alkali ions bound therein.
The process may further comprise a step of cooling the calcined product to a desired temperature. The present invention also relates to a cement substitute obtainable by the process according to the present invention. The cement substitute comprises a reactive amorphous phase of co-calcined alkali aluminosilicate containing material and aluminosilicate hydrate, containing material having alkali ions bound therein. The alkali ions are preferably sodium ions. The present invention also relates to a cement composition containing the cement substitute according to the invention and to a mortar or concrete composition containing such a cement composition.-

摘要: The invention relates to a method and a device for sintering sand. The problem addressed by the invention is that of using energy-saving sintering to make it possible to use desert sand, having round grains and evenly distributed among the grain fractions, for use as a building material, in particular as an aggregate. The problem is solved by providing a focusing device (3) for thermal-energy rich radiation (2) in order to create at least one focal point (5) on the surface of a bulk sand (10) and a positioning device (6) for continuous relative movement between the focal point (5) and the sand (10). The problem is also solved via a use of desert sand as an aggregate for a component (12), characterised in that, by sintering, obtained grain bonds (11) of desert sand (10) are incorporated in a matrix material (13) as an aggregate.
