摘要: A method to produce and manufacture cocrystals and salts is disclosed wherein crystalline solids and other components were combined in the desired proportions into a mixing chamber and mixed at high intensity to afford a cocrystalline product. No grinding media were required. The mixing system consists of a resonant acoustic vibratory system capable of supplying a large amount of energy to the mixture and is tunable to a desired resonance frequency and amplitude. The use of resonant acoustic mixing to assist cocrystallization is novel. This discovery enables the manufacture of cocrystals and salt forms, simplifying their manufacture and scale-up, and avoiding the use of grinding methods or grinding media. The present invention affords the manufacture of cocrystals and salts on kilogram to multi-ton scale and is adaptable to continuous manufacturing through the use of resonant mixing methods. 摘要: A binder matrix suitable for use in a gas generant composition, a gas generant composition including the binder matrix, and a related method of igniting such a gas generant composition are provided. The binder matrix includes a non-energetic binder material and dimethyl malonate non-energetic plasticizer and has a softening temperature above at least about 125°C. A gas generant composition including the binder matrix includes a non-energetic binder material such as cellulose acetate, dimethyl malonate non-energetic plasticizer, a fuel such as a nitramine fuel such as RDX, HMX or a combination thereof, and a stabilizer such as N-methyl-p-nitroaniline.

摘要: Preferred gas generant compositions incorporate a combination of 5-aminotetrazole nitrate and an oxidizer. The oxidizer may be selected from a group including nonmetal and metal nitrates, nitrites, chlorates, chlorites, perchlorates, and oxides. 5-aminotetrazole nitrate is characterized as an oxygen-rich fuel and is therefore considered to be a self-deflagrating fuel. To tailor the oxygen balance in certain applications, however, the use of an oxidizer is preferred. These compositions are especially suitable for inflating air bags and actuating seatbelt pretensioners in passenger-restraint devices.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for producing dinitro-diaza-alkanes and intermediate products hereto from alkylamines and esters. According to the inventive method, a dialkylester of a dicarboxylic acid is converted with an alkylamine in an aqueous medium into the corresponding dialkyldiamide of the dicarboxylic acid. The obtained dialkyldiamide is nitrated using common nitrating agents to form the corresponding dialkyldinitroamide of the dicarboxylic acid. The obtained dialkyldinitroamide is converted with methylamine and/or ethylamine in an aqueous medium into the corresponding alkyl nitramine and into dimethylamide and/or diethyldiamide of the dicarboxylic acid. The alkyl nitramine is isolated out therefrom and is condensed in a conventional manner to form dinitro-diaza-alkanes.

摘要: A process for the hydrogenolysis of 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexabenzyl-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazatetracyclo [5.5.0.0?5,9.03,11¿]dodecane ('HBIW') is disclosed in which a quantity of HBIW, cosolvent and a bromine source are placed into a reaction vessel. Acetic anhydride and a substantially water-free palladium catalyst are then rapidly added. The reaction vessel is purged of an atmosphere capable of reacting with hydrogen, and hydrogen is quickly introduced to convert the HBIW to tetraacetyl-dibenzylhexaazaisowurtzitane ('TADB'). The acetic anhydride is added immediately prior to hydrogen introduction so that it does not have time to react with the HBIW to form an acetylated derivative prior to commencement of the desired hydrogenation reaction. The process requires very little palladium catalyst, preferably less than 10 % wt./wt. based on the HBIW substrate. The TADB, precipitated on the palladium hydrogenation catalyst, is subjected to a second hydrogenation step using formic acid solvent in the presence of hydrogen to form tetraacetyldiformylhexaazaisowurtzitane ('TADF').
