The present specification relates to a method for preparing an oligomerization catalyst system, specifically comprising the steps of: preparing a catalyst composition by mixing a PNP-based ligand compound and a transition metal compound; and mixing the catalyst composition with a cocatalyst at a temperature of -40 to 80°C and activating same. The oligomerization catalyst system prepared by the method does not lose but can maintain activity even at a high temperature during an oligomerization reaction, thereby facilitating temperature control for the oligomerization reaction and possibly having various process advantages.
