The present invention relates to novel reactive dyes of the formula (I) where R to R are independently hydrogen, C1-C8-alkyl, C2-C8-alkyl, wherein nonadjacent CH2 groups may be replaced by oxygen atoms or imino or C1-C4-alkylimino groups and/or CH2 groups by carbonyl groups, C2-C8-alkenyl, aryl, arylalkylene or a moiety containing a reactive group or the precursor of a reactive group, with the proviso that at least one of R to R is a moiety which contains a reactive group or the precursor of a reactive group. The present invention further relates to the use of the reactive dyes of the formula (I) for dyeing substrates containing nucleophilic groups and to preparations containing at least one reactive dye of the formula (I).

Reactive dye having a Fixation Value (F) on cellulosic substrates of 95 % or greater as measured by the Fixation Value Technical Test Method (at 2:1 standard depth). In addition, the compounds herein have high Exhaustion Values (E), high Efficiency Values (T) and show significant improvements in terms of reducing spent dyestuff in effluent, increasing dye affinity to the substrate, increasing the dye-substrate covalent bonding, increasing the ability to dye substrates at room temperature, decreasing the amount of dye that is removed during the post dyeing 'soaping off process' and therefore simplying the post dyeing 'soaping off process' traditionally associated with dyeing cotton with fibre reactive dyes and reduction of staining of adjacent white fabrics. In addition, the compounds prepared above provide more intense dyeings and require less levels of salt for dyeing cotton substrates.

A reactive dye compound comprising: a) at least one chromophore moiety; b) at least one nitrogen-containing heterocycle; c) a linking group to link each chromophore moiety to each nitrogen-containing heterocycle; characterised in that at least one nitrogen-containing heterocycle is substituted with at least one thio-derivative and at least one quaternized nitrogen derivative. Des nouveaux composés solubles dans l'eau et fibro-réactifs ont la formule (I), dans laquelle les symboles ont la définition donnée dans la revendication 1, à condition qu'un composé ayant la formule (I) contienne au moins un des groupes suivants: a) groupes hydroxyles, b) groupes d'éthers, c) groupes carbonyles, d) groupes carboxyles, ces groupes étant présents dans les composés de la formule (II) et/ou en R. Ces composés sont préparés de la manière conventionnelle par condensation d'un composé Qa-Hal avec un composé initiateur approprié contenant un groupe amine primaire ou secondaire. Les composés ayant la formule (I) sont utiles comme colorants fibro-réactifs pour teindre ou imprimer des substrats organiques contenant de l'azote ou des groupes hydroxyles, spécialement du coton. La température préférée de teinture se situe dans la plage de la teinture à froid. Les teintures et motifs imprimés ainsi obtenus ont de bonnes propriétés générales de solidité et sont stables sous n'importe quelle forme d'influence oxydante.

Die vorliegene Erfindung betrifft die Umsetzung von primären oder sekundären, aromatische Zentren enthaltenden Aminen in wäßriger Lösung oder Suspension unter Zusatz von säurebindenden Mitteln bei pH 2 - 12 mit Verbindungen der Formel wobei
R' = heterocyclischer Reaktivrest und X = Abgangsgruppe (vorzugsweise Halogen).
Die erfindungsgemäße Umsetzung ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie unter Zusatz reaktionsbeschleunigender heterogener Katalysatoren stattfindet. Als primäre oder sekundäre, aromatische Zentren enthaltende Amine kommen vorzugsweise solche aus der Reihe der Anthrachinone. Naphthaline, Benzole, Mono-Dis-oder Trisazofarbstoffe sowie Cu- oder Ni-Phthalo-cyanine in Frage. Die reaktionsbeschleunigenden heterorgenen Katalysatoren enthalten vorzugsweise saure und/oder basische Gruppen und besitzen eine Mindestoberfläche von 0,001 m 2 /g, bevorzugt = 0,1 m 2 /g und insbesondere 10 m 2 /g.
