The present invention is directed to a method for increasing the wetting rate of a plant growth medium utilizing a wetting agent composition. The composition is comprised of at least one modified block copolymer. The modified block copolymer is comprised of an ester of an ethylene oxide-propylene oxide block copolymer and a fatty acid. The composition of the present invention also enhances plant growth and productivity by increasing the water uptake and the nutrient uptake by the plant roots.

The invention described herein relates to a system for stabilizing soil materials. In particular, the invention is directed to a system for stabilizing or bonding soil for road or pavement constructions, thereby providing improved vehicular access, although the scope of the invention is not necessarily limited to the above. Other materials the invention can be used to stabilise or bond include minerals, rocks, aggregates and biogenic substances. The invention can also be utilized for pothole repairs or suppression of dust particles, or crack sealing or sealing of pavements, prime, sand, single or two coat or asphalt.

A fibrous-mass product is provided which has both water retentivity and strength, and in addition, good air permeability, and can be used as an artificial soil particle. A fibrous-mass product 1 includes a core portion 3 which is an aggregate of fibers 2, and a water permeable membrane 4 which covers the core portion 3. The water permeable membrane 4 has porous structure, and covers at least 40% of an outer surface portion of the core portion 3. The core portion 3 has a water retention material. Ion exchange capability is imparted to at least one of the core portion 3 and the water permeable membrane 4. The fibrous-mass product 1 has a grain size of 1-10 mm. The amount of moisture retained in the fibrous-mass product 1 is adjustable between a wet state in which the core portion 3 is saturated with moisture and an air permeable state in which the core portion 3 is not saturated with moisture.
