An improved polyamide yarn for tire and industrial applications is prepared by applying to the yarn a finish composition comprising a diarylamine-ketone condensation product such as the low temperature reaction product of diphenylamine and acetone, and a compound selected from the group consisting of 1,3,5 tris(4t-butyl-3-hydroxy-2,6 dimethylbenzyl)-1,3,5 triazine-2,4,6(1H, 3H, 5H) trione and 1,3,5 tris(2 hydroxy ethyl)-s-triazine-2,4,6(1H, 3H, 5H) trione in effective amounts to provide improved adhesion of the fiber to rubber after aging the yarn.

Black, flame-resistant, substantially inert, non-conductive, flexible textile materials are produced by impregnating a scoured regenerated cellulosic textile material with a composition containing (a) a compound having in one tautomeric form, the general formula in which X is oxygen, sulphur or -NH-, and Z is -NH 2 , -NHCN, -NH.NHa, -NH.CO.NH 2 or lower alkyl orX and Z taken together represent a trivalent nitrogen atom, and (b) an ammonium salt of an oxy-acid of phosphorus, heating the impregnated textile in an oxygen-containing gas to a temperature of 220° - 300°C until a black, flame retardant product is obtained and there has been a loss in weight based upon the original weight of the textile material, of 20% to 30%.

Cationic and non-ionic fluorochemicals, mixtures of cationic and non-ionic fluorochemicals, blends of the mixtures with fluorochemical poly(oxyalkylenes), and compositions of the fluorochemicals with hydrocarbon nonionic surfactants are provided. These fluorochemicals and compositions, in dispersions, emulsions and microemulsions, may be applied to porous fibrous substrates to give oil and water repellancy and soil resistance.
