A screen-locking device for use in roll blinds of the type having a fixed shaft (11), a screen-roll (15) rotatably fitted on the fixed shaft, a cord-pulley (20) rotatably mounted on the fixed shaft, the device comprising a brake drum (11b) formed on the fixed shaft, a coil spring (24) fitted around the broke drum, the cord-pulley having an opening (22) over the broke drum, the coil spring having the both ends (25, 26) thereof inserted into the opening and crossed in a V-shaped form when axially viewed, a sleeve (17) removably fixed to the screen-roll and rotatably mounted on the fixed shaft (11), a key (18) reversibly fined on the sleeve and formed with a radill £ inwardiy extending projection (19) on one side of the key. For use with a roll blind having no auxiliary spring-motor, the device produces a large braking force when the key is set one way in which the projection is in a space between the both ends (25, 26). On the other hand, for use with a roll blind with an auxiliary spring-motor (44) to balance the weight of the screen (30), the device produces a small braking force when the key is set the other way in which the projection is out of the space between the both ends.

A roller shutter winding lifting device comprising: a roller shutter support plate assembly (A) including a roller shutter winding bar connection (5) and on the inside three planetary gears 1, cooperating peripherically with a fixed toothed rim (D) and axially inside with a toothed pinion (14) of a driving clutch assembly (B) provided with a driving pulley (11) and a clutch device (20,21,14') cooperating with a free ratched wheel (18, 9), being said assembly (B) tightened and supported by a mounting plate (C) in such a way that: rotating the driving pulley (11) in one direction the friction (20, 21, 14') locks tightening the free ratchet wheel (19) allowing the free wheel movement transmission by means of the pinion (14), through planetary gears (11) and toothed rim (D) in reduced rotation of the roller shutter connection (5) in the same direction; whereas rotating the driving pulley (11) in the opposite direction the clutch device (20, 21, 14') is unclutched allowing the controlled rotation of the connection (5) for unwinding the roller shutter in the same direction, and this by means of a multi-start screw thread (15) which causes the clutching or unclutching of said free wheel clutch device (20, 19, 21, 14').

Coaxially mounted on the second bevel gear (11) is a control shaft (13) coaxial to the curtain winding up roller (17) and rigidly connected to it; extending between said shaft (13) and the curtain winding up roller (17) is a double helical spring (27) fixed at one end to the control housing (7), and at the other end rigidly connected at (29) to the curtain winding up roller (17).

An operator for a rolling door having a curtain barrel shaft rotatable for actuating the door includes a drive gear adapted for connection to one end of the curtain barrel shaft and a second gear (66) adapted for connection to one end of an idler roller. The idler roller in use engages one surface of the door and extends horizontally across the top of the door opening. A third gear (70) is rotatably mounted in the region of the drive gear and the second gear (66) and an electric motor is provided to rotate this third gear (70). In one version of the invention there is a moveable fourth gear (82) in meshing engagement with the third gear (70) and driven thereby. The fourth gear (82) can be swung from a first position where it is in meshing engagement with the second gear (66) to a second position where it is in meshing engagement with the drive gear. A chain loop (46) connectable to the door is driven when the second gear and the idler roller rotate and it is provided to close the door even under pressure. In a second version, a floating clutch drive system employing an endless chain is employed to selectively drive either the shaft about which the door is rolled or the chain loop.
