    摘要: Die Erfindung betrifft einen Verbrennungsmotor nach dem Hubkolbenprinzip, mit mindestens einem Zylinder, in welchem ein Kolben (1) mit einem Kolbenboden (11) oszillierend angeordnet ist, wobei der dem Kolbenboden (11) gegenüberliegende Zylinderkopf (4) mit der Wandung des Zylinders und dem Kolbenboden (11) des an seinem oberen Totpunkt befindlichen Kolbens (1) einen Brennraum definiert, wobei der Kolben (1) mit einer sich von dem Kolbenboden (11) in Richtung des Zylinderkopfes (4) erststreckenden Trennwand versehen ist, und der Zylinderkopf eine Tasche (9) aufweist, in welche die Trennwand (2) während der oszillierenden Bewegung des Kolbens (1) eindringen kann. Bekannte derartige Verbrennungsmotoren weisen den Nachteil auf, dass eine Durchmischung der Einlassströmungen mit den Auslassströmungen stattfindet.
    Die Aufgabe, einen Verbrennungsmotor derart weiterzubilden, dass die Einlassströmungen bestmöglich von den Auslassströmungen getrennt werden wird dadurch gelöst, dass die Trennwand (2) entlang ihrer Hochachse gewölbt ausgebildet ist.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine using variable compression ratio and variable fuel supply to one of two combustion chambers is presented. Varying the compression ratio is accomplished by changing the volume of a single combustion chamber (53) with an auxiliary piston (57) that is biased in an open position by spring (58). This, in combination with lean burning, results in a highly efficient prime mover particularly at the low torque outputs needed in passenger car applications. The relationship of compression ratio and fuel feed is varied with engine speed. Burning occurs in two stages, and this results in a clean exhaust. The invention allows very efficient throttling of two-cycle engines to be realized. A concept for supplying air to a two-cycle engine at very good efficiencies is also presented. The combination of these techniques can result in an engine for automotive use that is half the weight of conventional units with a thermal efficiency of 40 % or more at average engine output.
