摘要: n electro-optical light shutter (3) includes a ceramic body (6) exhibiting electro-optical effect and a pair of electrodes (4, 5) for applying A.C. voltage to the ceramic body (6) to control the electro-optical effect. The ceramic body (6) is formed of PLZT ceramic having a memory effect at room temperature and which loses the memory effect at an elevated operating temperature caused by application of A.C. voltage to the ceramic body (6). Additionally, a heater (51) may be used to raise the operating temperature of the ceramic body (6).

摘要: An optical recording method comprises writing in a ferroelectric material heated at or above the glass transition point, and holding the resultant written state below the glass transition point. Preferably, the ferroelectric material constituting the optical recording layer has an optical thickness capable of providing a multiple reflection state. The multiple reflection state of the optical recording layer is locally changed at or above the glass transition point by irradiating the optical recording layer under an electric field with a laser beam in order to write in the optical recording layer.
