According to the electrostatic data recording method of the invention, the electrostatic data recording medium (110) is so disposed as to face a photosensitive member (1) having a photoconductive layer (9) on an electrode (7), image exposure is carried out while a voltage is applied across the electrodes (113) and (7), and electrostatic data corresponding to the image exposure are recorded in the electrostatic data recording medium (110). The electrostatic data recorded in the charge-holding layer (111) can be easily reproduced by reading the surface potentials, to amplify and output the signals, or by an electro-optical method, or by developing with toner. The information carrying medium (3) provides a long period of storage of information, and enables stored picture image information to be repeatedly reproduced with a picture quality according to need. Particularly, it is possible to read and output local potential of an information carrying medium (3) with predetermined scanning density at a desired time, and so pictures of high quality may be output as a silver salt photograph is taken and reproduced by optically scanning the film. Thus, the present invention may be applied to a wide field including photographing, copying and printing.

There are disclosed a method for transferring an electrostatic latent image and apparatus therefor. This method comprises preparing a master recording member (RM) one side of which is provided with a first electrode (E) and another side of which is provided with a first recording layer in which an image information is preformed in a form of material characteristic change of the first recording layer, preparing a blank recording member having a second recording layer, allowing the first recording layer of the master recording member confronting the second recording layer, and providing a uniform layer of charges to the second recording layer of the blank recording member by charge providing means on a side of the second recording layer opposite to the side confronting the preformed image information, to produce a transferred electrostatic latent image on the second recording layer of the blank recording member correspondingly with and in response to the image information preformed in the first recording layer of the master recording member..
