摘要： A system and method are provided that allow an optical media inspection device to detect defects on or in optical media despite the presence of gross deformations in the media that would otherwise interfere with the inspection process. A holding device holds the optical media near the center while it is rotated for inspection. A negative displacement prohibitor impedes any negative displacement of the optical media. A positive displacement inhibitor, i.e., air pressure exerted on the optical media, holds the optical media substantially flat while it is being inspected. A closed-loop feedback system may be used to control the amount of air pressure exerted against the optical media.

摘要： A multi-layer record carrier is for recording information by writing marks in a track. The record carrier has a first recording layer (40) and a second recording layer (41), and each recording layer has a pregroove (14) indicating the position of the track according to an opposite track path. The pregroove exhibits a modulated wobble for representing control information. A lead-in part of the pregroove has first control information for the first recording layer, and the lead-out part on the second recording layer has second control information including recording parameters for the second recording layer. The device the device has a head (22) for providing the beam and wobble detection means (32) for retrieving control information from each layer.

摘要： An optical disk apparatus for recording information of copyright on an optical disk where desired data are recorded by repetition of pits or marks. The apparatus comprises a recording means for recording the copyright information by irradiating a laser beam onto the optical disk in such a manner as to repeatedly form, in a predetermined area of the optical disk, local regions which cause greater changes in the return-light receiving result as compared with the pits or marks. On the optical disk, the existence ratio of the local regions for recording the copyright information is set to be less than 0.3 in the circumferential direction of the disk. In a reproduction mode, the copyright information recorded like a bar code for example can be exactly reproduced with certainty.
