Abstract: The invention describes an energy storage system (1), which comprises a weight (2) hanging from a cable (3, 10) connected to a first rotation shaft (5) mechanically coupled to a second rotation shaft (6) of a motor-generator assembly (7) connected to the power grid. When there is a surplus of electrical energy in the grid, the motor-generator (7) consumes energy, operating as a motor to rotate the first shaft (5) in a winding direction of the cable (3, 10), whereas, when there is a shortage of electrical energy in the grid, the motor-generator (7) supplies energy, operating as a generator utilising the rotation of the first shaft (5) in an unwinding direction of the cable (3, 10) when the free fall of the weight (2) is allowed. When the weight (3) is displaced immersed in water, in addition a compressed-air system can be utilised to modify the buoyancy of the weight.

Abstract: Vorgeschlagen wird ein System zur gravitativen Speicherung von Energie unter einer als hydraulischen Barriere (2) geeigneten Ton- oder Tonsteinschicht in einem Untergrund unter einer Geländeoberfläche, umfassend ein Spaltvolumen unter der Barriere mit einer oberen und einer unteren wasserdichten plastischen Membran sowie einem Rand um den Spalt aus einem hydraulisch konsolidierten Feststoff aus einer membranbildenden Suspension, einen auf das Spaltvolumen gravitativ wirkenden Untergrundbereich über dem Spalt zwischen der Barriere und der Geländeoberfläche sowie einen technischen Zugang (1) von einer Geländeoberfläche über der Barriere durch den Untergrund bis zur Unterseite der Barriere (2) in das Spaltvolumen, wobei eine ringzugfeste Auskleidung (3) ausgehend von der Geländeoberfläche zumindest im obersten Abschnitt des Zugangs vorgesehen ist. Ferner wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung und Betrieb eines solchen Systems vorgeschlagen.

By storing hydrogen gas in the tank, hydrogen gas can be dispensed from the hydrogen production apparatus even in times of low hydrogen production such as low wind speeds.-
