    - retrieving a second bitstream from the second connection line, by demodulating the first signal; and,
    - determining an outcome of the self-test by monitoring the demodulated signal.

    摘要: A fault detecting method, system, and apparatus for a PON system and an electrical relay apparatus are provided. The method includes the following steps. An electrical relay apparatus receives and detects a signal sent by a previous apparatus. If a defect is detected in the received signal, it is determined that a fault occurs to a transmission path between the previous apparatus and the electrical relay apparatus, and a signal with no defect is formed and sent to a next apparatus. If no defect is detected, the received signal is processed according to original processes and sent to the next apparatus. The next apparatus receives and detects the signal sent by the electrical relay apparatus. If a defect is detected in the signal sent by the electrical relay apparatus, it is determined that a fault occurs to a transmission path between the next apparatus and the electrical relay apparatus.

    摘要: Receivers accommodating carrier frequency selection methods in wireless communications systems employing multiple carrier frequencies are described. Although the receiver is tuned to a single band, an estimate of the channel quality corresponding to the currently used carrier and an alternative carrier is generated without switching between carriers. Transmitters of different cells and/or different sectors primarily use different carrier frequencies but periodically transmit using a neighboring sector's carrier frequency. Mobile node receivers use a single RF chain with a controllable RF filter to receive and process a signal within a first selected carrier band including two components, a first signal component identified with the first currently selected band and a second signal component identified with a second alternative band. Separate quality indicator values are obtained from the first and second signal components, compared, and a determination is made as to whether the receiver's RF filter should be switched to the second band.

The repeater (302) amplifies radio signals (170) of a bi-directional radio connection between a base station (100) and a subscriber terminal (150) at least at one particular radio frequency. In accordance with the invention, the repeater (302) monitors the radio signals (170) transmitted by at least one base station (100). The repeater (302) automatically tunes to amplify the signals (170) of the particular radio frequency on the basis of information included in the radio signals (170) it has monitored. The monitored radio signals (170) include a control channel, for example a broadcast control channel BCCH, comprising information on the operating frequencies of the base station (100). Monitoring means (404) are preferably similar to the subscriber terminal equipment (150).
