A punching machine for leather, or sheet materials in general, suitable to perform punching, impressing, plating, etching, in which the sheet material to be machined moves forward lying on a conveyor belt which brings it in correspondence of a processing section of the machine between a tool holder head driven with a reciprocating motion to perform a processing movement, and an abutment plane. The abutment plane is sloped with respect to the direction of movement of the machining tools that have work surface comprising a flat portion parallel to the abutment plane. Thanks to the previously mentioned configuration of the abutment plane and the tool the machine is able to perform, specific operations of carving with cuts that extend sloped with respect to the direction of the thickness of the leather.

The invention relates to a method and a device for producing inserts (12) for safety shoes or protective shoes (14), said inserts (12) being made from a longitudinal form that is made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy and being provided with at least one flat surface (16'). According to the inventive method, the profileless longitudinal form (16) is first impinged upon at least in part by at least one roller (22', 22'', 36', 36''), at least part of which is provided with an outer profile (26, 26', 28, 28'), such that the treated surface (16') of the longitudinal form (16) is subjected to internal pressure-related stress while the areas of the longitudinal form (16), which are located below the treated surface (16'), are subjected to internal tensile stress in an axial and tangential direction. The longitudinal form (16) that is subjected to internal pressure-related and tensile stress is then cut to size, formed in a non-cutting manner, and provided with a border (66) or similar edge, whereupon the insert (12) is at least partly (re-)compressed. An apparatus for shoe manufacture has been conceived which is provided with a shoe-supporting device (3) operatively in engagement with a support frame (2) and with a head block (6) carrying at least one first and one second working tools (7,8) arranged to operate on a shoe (5), as well as actuating means (12) associated with the frame (2) and activated to enable a relative displacement between the shoe-supporting device (3) and the working tools (7,8). The presence of more than one tool on a single work head allows accomplishment of a machine adapted to perform different working typologies on the shoe (5).
