A bonding agent for use in a 3D printing process comprises the following components: 15-60 parts by weight of a furan resin, 42-68 parts by weight of furfuryl alcohol, 1-12 parts by weight of an accelerator, and 0.1-5 parts by weight of an additive, wherein the said furan resin is prepared by the reaction of phenolic resin and furfuryl alcohol. Also disclosed are a preparation method and application of a bonding agent for use in a 3D printing process. The above bonding agent for use in a 3D printing process has an extremely low viscosity at room temperature, and its viscosity is lower than 10 mPa.s at 20 °C, thus meeting the resin requirements of the print head in 3D printing equipment, such that the print head is not easily blocked, thereby facilitating the maintenance of the machine. The bonding agent has good performance for wrapping sand particles in the process of sand applying, and the printed sand mold has higher mechanical strength and faster curing speed, thus facilitating sand dropping and cleaning and improving the operational performance.

Disclosed is a method for producing a feeder element for the foundry industry, comprising the following steps: (a) producing composite particles which have a grain size of less than 2 mm, determined by means of screening, in a matrix encapsulation method, comprising the following steps: (a1) producing drops of a suspension from at least the following start materials: (i) one or more refractory substances chosen from the group consisting of refractory solids and precursors for refractory solids, (ii) one or more density-reducing substances chosen from the group consisting of light-weight fillers which have a respective bulk density in the range of 10 to 350 g/l, blowing agents and pyrolyzable fillers, (iii) a solidifiable fluid as continuous phase; (a2) solidifying the solidifiable fluid so that the drops harden to form hardened drops, and the refractory substance(s) and the density-reducing substance(s) are encapsulated in the hardening continuous phase; (a3) treating the hardened drops so that said composite particles result; (b) mixing the composite particles produced in step (a) with a binding agent and, optionally, further components to form a feeder mass; (c) shaping and curing of the feeder mass to form a feeder element. In addition, disclosed is the use of a matrix encapsulation method for producing composite particles and the use of sealed composite particles and a method for producing refractory composite particles and the use of same.

The thin outer wall member is a layered structure of ceramic particles bound together by a polymer binder. A core is positioned within the volume and adapted to create at least one passage within the component formed from the molten metallic material received in the volume. A process for making sand cores or molds is disclosed; the completed cores and molds as well as a binder for holding the sand particles together. The resin binder is used in the process and in the finished product comprising lignin dissolved in a suitable solvent reacted on or cured with an isocyanate material. Curing can be accomplished by the use of an amine along with a catalyst if desired. A polyether polyol may be integrated with the lignin to vary the physical characteristics of the binder.

A material for a mold of the invention contains as a major component a refractory aggregate and a curable binder containing a polyfunctional acrylamide having two or more ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule. This material is excellent in low-temperature fast-setting properties, degradation resistance and working life, and is particularly suited as a mold material for casting a low-melting metal such as aluminum alloy.
